2016 Quality Reporting Update

As we approach the final quarter of 2016, we know many of you are actively monitoring your Clinical Quality Reporting Dashboards for upcoming attestation. Whether it be Meaningful Use, PQRS or both, Quality Reporting can be a daunting task. Centricity is here to help. With seamlessly integrated software solutions right at your fingertips, we've made Quality Reporting easier than ever.  This crucial annual report allows you to take advantage of valuable incentives. To continue to help your practice thrive, here are some important things to keep in mind as we look toward attestation:

  • CQR - Centricity utilizes a cloud-based reporting model known as CQR (Clinical Quality Reporting). This user-focused platform allows providers to carry out their day-to-day workflows in Centricity while also providing them with a Dashboard Report to monitor their outcomes on both Core Objectives and Clinical Quality Measures. With access to constant feedback about your data throughout the year, you'll ensure the best possible outcomes for your final Quality Report.
  • Meaningful Use - Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has recently proposed a 90-day reporting period for Meaningful Use as opposed to the original year-long reporting period. While we believe that CMS will pass and finalize this new 90-day reporting period, it is important that you continue to monitor your CQR Dashboards for a full year until the proposal is finalized.
    • Rules to follow for 2016 reporting:
      • 10 Core Objective for all Eligible Professionals
      • 9 Clinical Quality Measures
    • 2016 attestation deadline for Meaningful Use is February 28, 2017.
      • If you are a first-year attester, the deadline is October 1, 2016 in order to avoid any late penalties.
  • PQRS - The reporting period for PQRS in 2016 will continue to be a full calendar year.
    • Providers are required to report on 9 Clinical Quality Measures crossing at least 3 National Quality Strategy Domains.
    • Quatris and GE Centricity also support Claims-based reporting for both PM and EMR customers. If this option is chosen, claims must have been submitted for the entire calendar year with qualifying codes.
    • Reporting for PQRS in 2016 will have a direct impact on your Value-Based Modifier.
      • Failure to successfully attest to Meaningful Use and/or PQRS will result in negative payment adjustments on Medicare reimbursement for claims processed in 2018.
    • 2016 attestation deadline for PQRS if using CQR is February 28, 2017.

Microsoft Updates and impact on CPS

Any time there are updates to your computer's software, there can be unexpected problems. Recently, certain Microsoft Updates have caused performance issues with Centricity Software for some of our customers. We do our best to communicate known problems as soon as we are aware of them to lessen the negative impact of such issues.

Microsoft Updates are optional updates meant to resolve a known issue. Only apply updates that are relevant and address an existing issue or security concern. Updates should always be applied in a very controlled manner, under close supervision of your IT team. Before applying any service pack, hotfix, or security patch, all relevant documentation should be read and reviewed thoroughly. The update(s) should be applied to a single machine or small control group within your practice first. Always have a backup plan in mind when these changes are applied.

After a period of successful evaluation and testing (we recommend 10-14 days), the update should then be applied to the remainder of your applicable devices. You should communicate to your users when updates are applied in the event they notice any problems so that corrective action may be taken right away. This keeps your data and your practice safe.

Tips From the Team

Question: I have seen the emails about signing up for Quality Submission Services to have GE submit my PQRS data for 2016. Do I have to do this to participate in PQRS?

Answer: Having GE submit your PQRS data as a Data Submission Vendor is just one option available for getting PQRS information to CMS for 2016. Other reporting methods include Medicare Part B Claims, a PQRS Registry, Direct EHR Reporting, and Clinical Data Registry. Quatris did a PQRS 2016 webinar earlier this spring with a lot of good information on the program, and you can also contact the QualityNet Help Desk at 1-866-288-8912 or qnetsupport@hcqis.org if you have specific program questions.

Question: We have a new provider joining the practice who is coming from another EMR. How can we most efficiently get their data into Centricity?

Answer: If the provider is bringing EMR data, then that data can likely be converted and merged into your existing Centricity database. Quatris has done this many times for many practices. We have converted chart notes, images, allergies, problems, medications, current medications, immunizations, histories and vital signs. The amount of data and complexity of the job will determine the price. If you are interested, please contact your sales representative or our support team to get more information.

Question: I have patients that seem to not be getting statements. I need to confirm that their Bill Code is correct. How can I tell which patients are set to a Bill Code of No Statement?

Answer: There is a report in Centricity called the Guarantor List that will help you with this.

In Reports, go to the Patients folder. Locate the Guarantor List. In the Bill Code drop down, select No Statement and preview or print.
