CaSE responds to the appointment of new UKRI Chief Executive

The Science Minister has announced the appointment of Sir Mark Walport as Chief Executive Designate of UK Research and Innovation UKRI. Sir Mark is currently serving as the Government Chief Scientific Adviser.

In the Autumn, CaSE held a roundtable meeting with the Chair of UKRI, Sir John Kingman, and CaSE members, to discuss the leadership and governance of UKRI.

Industrial Strategy
Subject to the passage of the Higher Education and Research Bill, UKRI will play a crucial role in the future of UK science and innovation, including the implementation of the Government's new Industrial Strategy.

Last month the Government published its Industrial Strategy green paper, setting out plans to boost productivity and secure the UK's future as a global, competitive nation. CaSE has welcomed the Government's comprehensive approach, using the UK's strengths in research and innovation and underpinning with measures to boost STEM skills.

CaSE has also responded to Labour's Industrial Strategy consultation.
