Thank YOU for helping us expand our youth programs!

Thank you for joining the #GivingTuesday movement and helping us reach our $40,000 matching grant challenge! With your gifts and the additional grant from the Amelia Peabody Foundation, we are able to expand college and career readiness youth programs in Quincy. Special thanks to NBA player Jeremy Lin for making a generous donation to this challenge. Click here to see the video youth made for Jeremy Lin about how his gift will make an impact. Thank you for helping us improve the lives of youth!

Quincy Parents Gain New Skills

Eight parents from Quincy successfully completed the Parenting Journey Program! The 10-week program is designed for parents to reflect on their experiences growing up, and how these experiences impact their current parenting style. Parents also learned about community resources, such as the First Time Home Buyer course. The program enabled parents to connect with each other over shared experiences. Congratulations, graduates!

Peter Ng donated this painting of BCNC children to the new Arts Center.
We only have 30 days left...

... to raise $50,000 for a new Arts and Culture Center! If we raise the full amount, MassDevelopment will make a matching gift, putting us one step closer to bringing the arts to Chinatown!

We are thankful for Peter and Yoshie Ng, who made a $10,000 gift to this Campaign.  Peter is an artist in painting and Chinese calligraphy, who seeks to inspire the youth of our community. Peter believes, "a new Arts Center brings immense value to the community and will connect people from all walks of life through the universal language of art."

Supports for Children with Special Needs

Family Services is dedicated to offering programs specifically designed for families of children with special needs. At this month's support group, parents learned about their child's language development. Additionally, children with autism and their siblings participated in a music group led by Family Connector and Music Therapist, Kit Yung. Music and expressive arts therapy have shown to improve social and communication skills, as well as increase attention and concentration, among children with autism.

BCNC students, Ardian and Eriona, were both hired at Chicken & Rice Guys.
Adult Students Secure New Jobs

We are proud of our Adult Education students who have recently landed new positions, placing them one step closer to achieving their professional goals! Among them include Ardian and Eriona, now Kitchen Workers at Chicken & Rice Guys; Lorena, a Flagger/Valet at LAZ Parking; and Wilmarie, an AmeriCorps member at the New Bedford Community Economic Development Center. We are proud of our students' dedication to achieving their career goals!

We are looking for new students for our ESL programs in academics, career readiness, and customer service training. Contact Mira Jin to learn more!
BCNC Portraits: Lani

Lani first became involved with BCNC to develop a curriculum to prepare 4-year-olds (with no preschool experience) for kindergarten. Three years later, and Lani remains a dedicated volunteer in our Center for Early Education and Care! Lani's dedication, cheerful attitude, and passion for the childcare field make her an outstanding volunteer and role model for our children. Kathy Cheng, Director of BCNC's Center for Early Education and Care, shares, "We appreciate the time and effort Lani puts into making a difference in the lives of our children and families!"
