Road to an Anti-Inflammatory Diet


Inflammation, the popular word in health, has many people asking if their Fatigue, mental fog, weight gain, allergies, Alzheimer's disease, auto-immune condition, heart disease, depression and even cancer may be related to it. There are some simple ways to reduce inflammation in your body.
 
DO's
1. Eat more vegetables and with lots of color and variety. Organic when possible. Aim to have vegetables with every meal.
 
2. Drink filtered water as your drink of choice throughout the day. Consider green tea instead of coffee and limit your alcohol.
 
3. Add garlic, ginger, turmeric, cinnamon and 40 grams of fiber into your diet, cayenne pepper and black pepper are also excellent to add.
 
4. Get your protein from vegetables, lentils, beans, non-gmo, non-processed whole soy, good quality cheese & yogurt, grains like quinoa, farro, buckwheat, barley, wild rice and fish
 
5. Include fats from omega 3 rich eggs, hemp seeds, flax seeds, almonds, walnuts, olive oil, wild caught salmon, sardines, herring, black cod and avocados.

DON'TS
1. Consume sugars, processed grain products including whole wheat flour (cereals, bagels, muffins, bread, pasta) and dairy products (milk, ice cream, processed cheeses)
 
2. Use pre-packaged, prepared processed products. These may include 'instant' or microwavable meals that have included salt, preservatives, additives, dyes and chemicals. Avoid sauces, ketchup, BBQ, salad dressings and special sauces.
 
3. Restaurant food regularly (even the salads with all the trimmings, with hidden saturated fats, sugar, salt and processed grain and cheese)
 
4. Red meat and processed meats like sausages, pepperoni, bacon, cold cuts and hot dogs
 
5. Get tricked by diet food or zero calorie food packed with artificial sweeteners, enriched or bleached flour, high fructose corn syrup, additives like carrageenen, xanthan gum, soy lecithin, fructose, syrups and other preservatives.
