February in Truro ...
This month we pick up over an hour of additional daylight, but with temperatures just about the same as January. That's not enough sun to overcome the frigid bay and ocean waters and the cold of the frozen ground.
Expect an average temperature of 31°F, with average lows of 22°F and highs of 36°F. We get an average total of 4 inches of rain and 10 inches of snow.
Below are some of the activities and events happening about town this month.

WIN-WIN Renewable Energy for Affordable Housing
Habitat has sited their soon-to-be-constructed Truro homes for renewable solar electricity and is close to having the money in-hand to pay for its installation. Truro not only has received Cape-wide credit for this initiative but also has helped provide the impetus for Habitat's commitment to make all their housing on the Cape "solar-ready" going forward. This is a win-win all around for Habitat, Truro, and our renewable future.

Eversource Pruning Electrical Lines
The Eversource plan describes the pruning program Eversource will employ for vegetation management within the Town of Truro for its electric circuits 4-96 and 4-96-669. Management activity includes pruning vegetation to provide specific clearance around electric conductors as follows: clearance of 10 feet below and to the sides of electric conductors and clearance of 15 feet above. Pruning will conform to accepted tree maintenance standards. No herbicide use is proposed. Fast-growing volunteer trees and brush developing directly under its conductors will be flush cut to the ground.
Copies of the 2017 Eversource Vegetation Management Plan are on file and available for the public's review at the DPW office or the Health and Conservation office in Town Hall.
