Youth!
Instead of having youth group on Sunday, we will get lunch together after the second service.  Help us take over the meeting room at McAllister's on 135.  Families are welcome!

Also, watch for a youth update coming next week!  There are lots of things going on!
It's Abe!  Honestly!
Join us at our February 7th First Tuesday Fellowship as Abraham Lincoln pays us a visit! Danny Russel, a professional actor, will portray 'Honest Abe'. We'll begin with our meeting at 11:15 a.m. followed by a warm and delicious lunch that will tantalize your taste buds.

Our hosts are Lois Bowser, Elsie Olson, Pauli Gee, and Sara Rinker with devotions provided by Russ Ward.  Abe is honestly looking forward to seeing you on Feb. 7th!
New Book Study

What if churches started to live like they were dying?
We've all heard the messages of doom. Mainline churches are closing their doors. Seminaries are selling their property. The fastest-growing religious self-designation in the U.S. is "none," meaning identifying with no religion. It's enough to keep church folk awake at night worrying about the future, wondering if we have a future. But what if we were to redirect the energy spent on anxiety about our own survival toward getting down to the business of living like Jesus? If this sounds like a conversation you'd like to have, you are invited to The Mainliner's Survival Guide to the Post-Denominational World book study. The study will be held at SCC for six Sundays from 4:00 to 5:30 beginning February 12. For more information or to register, visit the kiosk or contact Kyrmen Rea-Hedrick at kreahedrick@gmail.com.  Pick up a book at the kiosk for $15 or download from Chalice Press for $10.

String and Supper

Join us on Thursday, February 23rd for food, fellowship and creativity from 6-9pm in the SCC Fellowship Hall.   We'll be making string art led by Teal Canary, an art studio located in Greenwood.  Cost is $30 and includes supplies, pizza and soda.  Please RSVP to Shannon via email or sign up at the kiosk no later than Sunday, February 19th.
Connect Your Kroger Card to Our Youth
Our youth can earn funds every time you shop at Kroger!  Connect your card to NPO #10144 through Kroger's Community Rewards Program. Thank you for supporting our youth!

Thanks from the "Bag Ladies"

The "BAG" ladies of Southport who like to "cut up" have made 13 plarn mats and 7 pillows so far. The mats were given to HOOP (Helping Our Own People) who will give them to the homeless. At this time we have plenty of plastic bags so please donate yours to Hunger, Inc. as they can always use bags. Thanks to all who have contributed to this project!
Fellowship of the Congregation

Ann Harshbarger, mother of Barb Lofton is hospitalized in Iowa.
Dave Rohl is currently hospitalized and is recovering well!
Steve Coffey passed away earlier this week.  A private service was held at SCC on Thursday.
Brett Timmons has been deployed for 4-6 months.

To our friends at SCC:
Thank you for your prayers, cards, visits, and condolences this week after the passing of my Dad, Dale Davisson. Your kindness and support are most helpful as our family copes with the range of emotions that accompany the passing of a loved one.
Cort and Sarah Davisson

To Southport Christian Church:
The Hunger Inc. Food Pantry is very grateful for your continuous support during 2016. Your congregation donated a total of 2,155 pounds of food items last year.  During the month of August, you gave 457 pounds of fresh produce harvested from your community garden.  Thank you for your commitment to feeding the hungry in our community.
