February 2017

Last summer, more than 100 of us convened for the second annual SC Food Access Summit. The day culminated in thinking through next steps and organizing ourselves around five recommendations: capital, supply, affordability, planning and transportation. The steering committee has been reviewing the information that was collected and is beginning to think through next steps. If you are interested in getting involved with a workgroup, please contact one of our workgroup leaders.

We have started planning the 2017 SC Food Access Summit, which is scheduled to take place this October in Columbia. We plan to take a deeper look at local food policy efforts, and we look forward to your participation. Stay tuned for a save the date and more updates from the Task Force workgroups.

Finally, we encourage you to continue sharing your food access related news, updates, and events and have created a submission form to make the process easier. Your participation and input helps to ensure this newsletter is a valuable source of information for healthy food advocates across South Carolina. Thank you for all that you do!
