Moving On
ECST's long-time Director of Development,  Lily Nguyen , will be moving on to a new job as Director of Development at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont. Lily has been instrumental in helping the College build relationships with alumni and corporate partners, including developing our senior project sponsorship program. She's been a Cal State LA employee since 1999, and been with ECST since 2007.  We will miss her and wish her great success at her new job!
What's Been Happening
Cal State LA EcoCAR3 team goes for a test drive on Varden Labs autonomous electric vehicle last week as they share a common commitment to Going Green. Lucky participant got to ride the autonomous shuttles touring Cal State LA on March 8, 2016. Watch KABC7 Eyewitness News Clip.

For the second consecutive year, HNTB aviation professionals delivered a guest lecture as part of the airport planning course for Cal State LA held at HNTB's LAX office. Students get the opportunity to hear of 'real-world' topics and case studies as they explore concepts of airport planning and construction; community surveys related to social, economic and physical characteristics; political influences and phases of airport construction. Senior Design teams have been busy completing reports and practicing presentations all week for the upcoming Expo which will take place May 27, 2016. This year we have over 300 students taking Senior Design working on close to 50 projects. For more information contact Ted Nye.

Congratulations to the Department of Civil Engineering's GeoTech Team for placing in the top 5 out of 20 schools around the nation in the GI/SEI Wall competition at Phoenix, AZ. Best of luck to our students as they progress through these competitions and move on to the Pacific Southwest Conference March 31-April 2 in Long Beach, CA.

A team of five undergraduate Cal State LA BMES students competed in and placed in the top five out of fifteen teams at Makeathon 2016, a biomedical design competition hosted at USC February 25th-26th. Over the course of a 30-hour period, the team designed a flexible splint system with adjustable tension and rigidity, in response to the competition prompt which was to design a re-usable, wearable device to treat musculo-skeletal injury in 0-gravity.

As we did last Spring, we'll include a page of faculty publications and presentations, those that have occurred since the last issue or during the last year. If you're not sure whether you included something, you can check on online version of the magazine herePlease email your entries to Dean Allen.

If you have not had the opportunity to take a professional head shot with our campus photographer Emilio Flores, please contact him at your earliest connivence to schedule an appointment to do so. Revised online and printed photo directories and varied projects in production with access these photos and we don't want to miss anyone.
