Kohl Competition funds research seeking to improve people's lives in U.S., abroad
The La Follette School of Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison awarded funding for five projects through the Herb Kohl Public Service Research Competition. Earlier this year, former U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl pledged $300,000 annually for five years to support nonpartisan research that informs critical public policy and governance debates and advances evidence-based decision-making. Read more.
Professor Pam Herd to chair General Social Survey Board
La Follette School Professor Pam Herd was elected chair of the Board of Overseers for the General Social Survey (GSS), effective spring 2017. Herd is principal investigator of the Wisconsin Longitudinal Study.   Read more.
Workshop project proposals sought
The La Follette School of Public Affairs is seeking client-based projects for students in its Workshop in Public Affairs and Workshop in International Public Affairs courses. Applications from public, nonprofit, or private-sector organizations are due December 1. Alumni are encouraged to apply. Read more.
Offner Lecture to focus on children Thursday
Distinguished scholars Ron Haskins, Isabel Sawhill, and C. Eugene Steuerle (MA '72, MS '73, PhD '75) will discuss Improving Opportunities for Children during the 2016 Paul Offner Lecture on Thursday, November 3. Read more.
