Congress of Mayors Held in Guthrie
|
The Mayors Council of Oklahoma (MCO) held its seventh annual Congress of Mayors last Friday at the state Scottish Rite Temple in Guthrie. During the course of the day the over 100 mayors, vice mayors, council members and city managers debated issues facing municipalities and crafted a legislative agenda for the 2017 legislative session. Former State Representative Joe Dorman served as parliamentarian again this year and Pryor Creek's Mayor Jimmy Tramel served as honorary Speaker of the House for the event. The goal of this Congress is to give mayors a better understanding of the legislative process and give them the opportunity to interact with their colleagues and lawmakers to get a real understanding of state issues.
