Dear Reader
How ironic that the courts
sentenced former Member of Parliament Patrick Illidge on the same day that Parliament
approves the law on the Integrity Chamber. We are seeing the growth of St. Maarten as a country. It is a slow and very painful process, but a growth nonetheless.
StMaartenNews.com asked Attorney at Law Cor Merx what his opinion is about the
judgment of the Bada Bing case in the Appeal Court. "My client [Jaap van den Heuvel - ed.] is happy with the release of Van der Brug. He was sure to get a release on human trafficking. There was no doubt about that. On the other hand he is disappointed because the
judgment - for instance - stated that he did now show any remorse…. while he wrote the whole story on a paper. " Merx stated. However, Merx said he reassured his client that he has studied the
judgment and he has already found enough reasons to go into cassation.
So we can consider this case still as ongoing and will await the ultimate ruling of the High Court in the Netherlands.
In the meantime, enjoy the newsletter and have a great day.

Construction demolition is an extraordinarily high-risk business. Ensuring the safety of all involved, including on-site employees and people who live or work nearby, is a joint effort involving the client, the designer, the general contractor, construction managers and construction staff. Nevertheless, if you’re the general contractor on a demolition job, the responsibility for managing the site and keeping everyone safe ultimately falls on you.
The major risks in construction demolition fall into seven distinct categories. Below we give a brief summary of each one and a few tips for keeping the job site safe.
