Making a Difference with Community Involvement and Company Events
M.W. Watermark is proud to participate in activities that benefit our local community.
Annual Pink Week
October was breast cancer awareness month. October 17 through 21 was Pink Week at M.W. Watermark. For every day during this week that each employee wore pink, $10 was earned to be donated to City on a Hill.
City on a Hill is a non-profit that pays for mammograms for women who don't have insurance or the means to pay for them.
Thanks to staff participation, Watermark raised $2,260 this year!
Every November, M.W. Watermark holds a Thanksgiving Food Drive for the Community Action House in Holland. A list of items needed is posted in the employee break room, and Watermark employees donate food to fill the baskets.
This organization had a goal of feeding 1,000 families this past season, and the Watermark staff stepped up to help make this goal a reality for our community.
Winter Coat Drive
In December, we held a coat drive to give our employees the opportunity to provide warm winter coats for men, women and children in our community - through the local Salvation Army and the Center for Women in Transition (CWIT).
Our goal was to provide 100 coats. However, our staff went above and beyond and donated an amazing 145 winter coats! Visit our M.W. Watermark Facebook page to view the related posting.

In Addition to Supporting Our Local Community, M.W. Watermark Also Strives to Make a Difference by Creating a Great Place to Work
Our annual Christmas party is one way that we show appreciation for our staff and includes a dinner, games and prizes.
We had a great turnout this past December, with nearly all of our employees attending.
The M.W. Watermark team also likes to have fun!

Ugly Christmas Sweater Day
December 16th was National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day, so we held a company-wide event to celebrate. We had 100% participation, which earned the entire staff a pizza lunch!
The M.W. Watermark Pre-Thanksgiving Stuffing
The staff here at M.W. Watermark often feels like one big family - and nothing says "family" more than a meal where all employees contribute by bringing their own specialty dishes to share. Below we see Dave and Brad checking the progress on a turkey they are deep-frying.
There was a lot of excitement around our annual Watermark chili cook-off on October 27th. Nine pots of chili were entered, with lots of variety and some incredible flavors represented. Cash prizes were awarded for the top three places, based on popular vote. We even held a corn-hole tournament in the shop! In the photo below-left, a table is set up with everything needed for sampling chili - including crackers, cheese and sour cream.
M.W. Watermark Annual Golf Outing
Every year for the past several years, Watermark takes an afternoon in the Fall to hold a golf outing for the entire company, complete with a catered BBQ dinner, door prizes and awards. Again, it's all focused on team-building and rewarding our staff with a fun day out for all of their contributions. In the photo at the bottom-right, Nick is very excited about his door prize!
Softball Tournament Champions
Thanks to everyone who took the time to come watch our Watermark softball team play this past season, and advance to be tournament champions! We are also very thankful to all those staff members who made the commitment to play. We had a great year and a lot of fun, win or lose. (Although we found that winning is definitely more fun!)
M.W. Watermark's 13-Year Anniversary Luncheon
M.W. Watermark's 13-year anniversary was July 11. To celebrate, the entire staff was provided with a special luncheon. Below-left we see owner/President Mike on grill duty.
Company Cookouts
M.W. Watermark held our first cookout of the season in early May. We prepared and grilled three types of burgers: beef, turkey and veggie. It was a rainy day, but we didn't let it stop us: we brought the grill into the shop and opened the doors!
Company-wide cookouts are a common occurrence here at Watermark, and we hold BBQ events on a regular basis.
Annual Soup Fest
By now you probably get the idea that the Watermark team enjoys getting together to share a meal. This was our annual Soup Fest, where staffers contributed by bringing in eight different homemade soups to sample. Soup is the perfect meal for a cold winter day! In the photo below-right we see Jim helping himself to a hearty bowl of taco soup.
As part of a reward for a job well-done, and to help staffers get to know each other even better, small groups are taken out on occasion for appetizers and drinks.
