The Need Is Much Greater
The Hansen Shelter, located at 12240 NE Glisan opened the end of July 2016 with a 200 capacity. The program shelters some of our most vulnerable neighbors, including women, people with disabilities, people age 55 and older, and Veterans.
The Hansen Shelter is an intentional, strategic component of A Home for Everyone - a community-wide effort to house homeless Multnomah County residents. The Springwater Corridor cleanup ran into some snags in Aug. 1 date that homeless campers needed to move. Just walking around near any public park or vacant property you can see evidence that there is not enough housing for all the homeless. If you know of someone who needs these services. The shelter is open during the day for services and at night for shelter. The shelter is reservation-based - no walk-ups! Make a reservation, please call 503-280-4700 or come to the day center, located at 650 NW Irving. |

FRAUD ALERT: ACTIVE #PHONESCAM IN PORTLAND - DO NOT SEND MONEY The Portland Police Bureau wants community members to be aware of a variety of phone scams that are active in the Portland Metro area.
Tips to help avoid becoming a victim to this scam include: * Never give personal or financial information to an unsolicited caller or email. * Be suspicious of callers who demand immediate payment for any reason. * Stay private. Regularly update privacy settings for social media sites. Scammers often make their stories more believable by trolling for personal information on Facebook, Twitter and similar sites. * Utility companies and government agencies will never contact you for payment by GreenDot, MoneyPak or Vanilla Reload. * Remember that anyone who has the number on a prepaid card has access to the funds on your card. * Never wire money, provide debit or credit card numbers to a stranger. * Verify the debt or confirm other details by calling the OJD collections hotline at 1-888-564-2828.
