CENTRALINA WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BOARD WINS INTERNATIONAL DAVEY AWARD
The winners of the 2016 Davey Awards have been announced by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts and the Centralina Workforce Development Board (CWDB) was among the winners among the nearly 4,000 entries submitted globally.
The CWDB won the Davey for its interactive partner map housed on its recently revamped website

Tramon Ingram of Morven, NC was enrolled into the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) through the Centralina Workforce Development Board's NEXGEN services on July 8, 2015. He started services as a high school dropout who was also the parent of a young daughter. He had little to no work experience when he came to Union County Community Action (UCCA), Inc.

Greenworks Tools, which makes battery-operated outdoor power tools that are sold in Lowe's home improvement stores and elsewhere, opened a 65-employee, $2 million headquarters in the Mooresville Cotton Mill complex.

SCC Receives $15,000 Grant for Machining Program from Gene Haas Foundation
Stanly Community College's Computer Integrated Machining program has received the Gene Haas Foundation Grant of $15,000 for 2016. The grant funds can be used toward student scholarship, NIMS credentialing, and sponorship of student competitions highlighting the Computer Numeric Control (CNC) Machining Program, such as SkillsUSA or FIRST Robotics competition.
