Elizabeth Petruccione Health and Wellness Coaching held a grand-opening ribbon cutting recently to celebrate the opening of a new office space. Elizabeth's personal approach to helping clients lose weight has long been a mobile business, and she is happy to have found a permanent office space in the Sobon & Associates Office Business Center located at 615 West Johnson Avenue, Suite 202 in Cheshire, CT. Hartford HealthCare at Home
Hartford HealthCare at Home, which provides nursing, rehabilitation and other services to help people live independently, has relocated its offices from Waterbury to 680 Main St. in Watertown. The facility celebrated its grand opening on Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.  Participating were, from left: Watertown Town Council Chairman Thomas L. Liquor Super Store
Liquor Super Store Watertown recently marked its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, December 10th. The store, located at 1432 Main Street in Watertown, carries a large inventory of liquor, wine and beer. Acts 4 Ministry and New Opportunities Seeking Donations For Martin Luther King Day Clothing Giveaway Event (January 16)
Acts 4 Ministry Inc. and New Opportunities, Inc. are seeking donations of coats and winter accessories for children, women and men to be distributed during their collaborative 2017 Martin Luther King Day - Day of Service Clothing Giveaway on January 16. Donations of gently-worn coats, hats, gloves, scarves, blankets, new socks and thermals can be brought to Acts 4 Ministry's building at 1713 Thomaston Avenue in Waterbury Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., alternating Saturdays 9 a.m. to 12 noon. On Friday January 13th only, donations can also be brought to New Opportunities at 232 North Elm Street in Waterbury from 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.The clothing will be given away to meet the needs of low-income families throughout the Greater Waterbury region. Relay For Life Kickoff Celebration (January 18)
All registered team captains and anyone considering joining the Relay for Life Greater Waterbury 2017 is invited to the Relay for Life Kickoff Celebration. Quilts that Care January and February Open Sew Sessions
Open sew sessions will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 7 through Feb. 25 at Quilts that Care, 130 Scott Road. Quilts that Care, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, creates and donates quilts to cancer patients at cancer facilities throughout Connecticut.
Beginners quilting, to learn to quilt and make a quilt for a cancer patient at the same time, will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 7, 21 and Feb 4. Yellow brick road classes will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturdays, Jan. 7, 21 and Feb 4. Tumbler classes will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturdays, Feb. 11, 25 and March 4. Volunteers are sought to iron, sort, fold and match fabric, as well as sew. Sewing machines are available or bring your own. Donations of sewing or quilting machines, and experienced quilters to teach a class are being sought. Monetary donations can be sent to PO Box 166, Watertown, CT 06795. Sorrina Salvatore has been named Vice President, Branch Manager. Mrs. Salvatore joined Ion Bank in 2000 and has held various positions. She is currently a Branch Manager for two Naugatuck branches. Kendra Hoyt has been named Vice President, Branch Manager. Ms. Hoyt joined Ion Bank in 1999 and previously held the positions of Head Teller and Assistant Manager. O&G Receives CCIA Community Service Award; Donates Over 2,000 Toys
O&G Industries, Connecticut's largest privately-held construction company, donated over 2,000 toys to nonprofit organizations this holiday season. Company staff donated over 1,500 toys to Torrington's FISH (Friends in Service to Humanity of Northwestern Connecticut) via the Torrington Fire Department's Christmas for Children Toy Drive. In addition, another 500 toys, benefiting 153 children, were donated to the Torrington Area Youth Services Bureau. O&G has been a supporter of the Christmas for Children Toy Drive for over 25 years and a supporter of the Torrington Area Youth Services Bureau Toy Drive for nearly a decade. The company received its third consecutive CCIA (Connecticut Construction Industries Association) Community Service Award following its 2015 win for its annual toy drive and 2014 win for its Platt Builds program. O&G won the award for its awareness and fundraising efforts throughout the month of October in support of Making Strides of Litchfield County, a local chapter of the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Network. Several cancer awareness and fundraising activities were held including a "Lunch 'N Learn" kickoff, "Dress Down Fridays", "Real Men Wear Pink Day", a paint-night at a local art space, a chili cook-off and multiple raffles. Generous members of ProfNet, Inc. the Professional Networking Group of Waterbury, donated dozens of men's coats the non-denominational non-profit Acts 4 Ministry organization in Waterbury that welcomes individuals or families who have suddenly lost their homes to a fire, flood or other unexpected devastation or life-changing event to visit their 1713 Thomaston Avenue thrift shop to personally select, at no charge, clothing, dishes, glassware, furnishings, and items to help meet other basic needs. ProfNet, Inc. is the Greater Waterbury region's only independent business leads-generating networking group. In 2016, the organization's 40 members celebrated 21 years of success, and are committed to maintaining ethics and standards of the highest order in all business relationships. The Watermark at East Hill Celebrates Featured Resident
The Watermark at East Hill has announced that one of their residents will be featured in the 2017 edition of Watermark Expressions, a calendar celebrating active aging and the arts. Resident Audrey Namowitz will be featured on the January page for a piece made from paper and tape, entitled, "Labels and Letters." Mrs. Namowitz received her Master of Arts degree in art and art education from Columbia University where her studies focused on drawing from observation and representation. Her career as an artist spanned over decades as a teacher, painter, book illustrator, and toy designer. Each year, hundreds of residents from 39 Watermark communities across the country submit their art to compete for a place in the calendar. Finalists are selected and awarded one of only twelve spots in the calendar. Complimentary copies of the 2017 Watermark Expressions calendar are available while supplies last.
