A Message from our President

It's a new year, and your Chamber of Commerce is diving right into 2017 with plenty of ways to help you stick with your business New Year's Resolutions. Whether you have resolved to connect with your peers, develop your employees, or grow your business, we have the opportunities for you to realize those goals.

Kick off the year by connecting with your fellow members and by maximizing your chamber membership. Join us for the first Out for Business of 2017 at Regency at Prospect by Toll Brothers and network as you enjoy food and drinks at their beautiful clubhouse and tour their model homes. Truly resolved to getting involved with your Chamber membership? Sign up for an Easy Pass to be registered for all 12 Out for Business Events this year, and don't forget to attend our upcoming complimentary Members' Breakfast to discover how you can squeeze the most out of our many resources.

Maybe you want 2017 to be a year of change - what better way to effect change than to engage directly with your local and state legislators? We invite you to do just that at our Annual Legislative Breakfast this month, as well as at our other upcoming legislative events, and follow our Public Policy Blog as the session progresses.

Perhaps you'd like to help foster your staff's leadership and development skills - or sharpen them up yourself! Join the Young Professionals of Waterbury Region for their 4th Annual CEO Speaker Series as they hear from three local business leaders who will give insight and reflect on the keys to conducting successful business in our community. This year's series features Frank Monteiro of MacDermid Performance Solutions, Virginia Cookson-O'Rourke of O'Rourke & Birch Florist, and Carmen Romeo of Fascia's Chocolates.

You can resolve to celebrate a little more, and start off by joining us at the Harold Webster Smith Awards Breakfast, where we will honor the contributions of three standout business leaders in the local community.

Whatever your business goals are for 2017, rest assured that the Chamber can help you reach them. Contact any member of the Chamber team and ask how we can help you with your specific needs. And, as always, reach out to me if I can be of service at (203) 757-0701 or at lward@waterburychamber.com.

Wishing you a prosperous and productive New Year!

Best Regards,
Lynn Signature

THE BEST WAYS TO REWARD EMPLOYEES (ENTREPRENEUR.COM)
Every company needs a strategic reward system for employees that addresses these four areas: compensation, benefits, recognition and appreciation. The problem with reward systems in many businesses today is twofold: They're missing one or more of these elements (usually recognition and/or appreciation), and the elements that areaddressed aren't properly aligned with the company's other corporate strategies.  A winning system should recognize and reward two types of employee activity-performance and behavior.      Read More - Click Here
