Principal's Message

Parents,

With the daily multiple absences and students trickling into school late each day, it's time to remind families about the importance of getting to school on time.  We still have children arriving well after the morning bell, and that equates to lost instructional time, not only for them, but for all the children whose learning is interrupted when they enter the room.  The disruption to teaching costs precious minutes each day that cannot be reclaimed. Ask you child this question, "Attending school on time helps me because..."
  • By the 6th grade, if a student continues to be chronically absent, it is a leading indicator of whether he or she will drop out of high school.
  • A student who misses 10 days or more during a school year is 20 percent less likely to graduate from high school and 25 percent less likely to ever enroll in college.
We ask that you commit to leaving five minutes earlier so that your child can be here to start the day with their peers.  Let the learning begin-and continue- uninterrupted-every day.

Murwood Principal

District News
District Master Plan

In June, 2016, WCSD passed a facility bond to upgrade facilities, infrastructure and improve energy efficiency in all Walnut Creek School District Schools.  In November, the Governing Board contracted with WLC Architects to create a Master Plan for the district to ensure we have a comprehensive blueprint to provide students with safe, 21st century learning environments.

Please join us for a second site meeting offered to Murwood staff and community members along with District and Architectural representatives to engage stakeholders in defining the How and Why Schools look different in the 21st Century on March 13th from 3-5 PM.
OhmConnect

Please join WCEF - Walnut Creek Education Foundation team on OhmConnect? It's a program that donates to the school when you save energy at home. We need to replace eScrip this year and this program is free and super simple to join. Let Alison Gomez know if you have any questions about it!

Thank you!
We would like to thank all of our wonderful volunteers who stepped up to make our #Turn Up The Heat campaign so successful. Behind the scenes prep work, communications between all six elementary schools and WCI and Las Lomas, poster and sign making, our chilly envelope collectors, it takes a village. And we're lucky to have you all in ours!
