W-2 Scam focused on Companies and HR Depts.
The IRS urges company payroll officials to double check any executive-level or unusual requests for lists of Forms W-2 or Social Security number.  The W-2 scam first appeared last year. Cybercriminals tricked payroll and human resource officials into disclosing employee names, SSNs and income information. The thieves then attempted to file fraudulent tax returns for tax refunds. For more details see the press release .

 COMMUNITY HAPPENINGS

The Bethlehem Historical Association presents Dutch Architecture and Furnishings with Marilyn Sassi on Thursday, February 16, at 2pm at the Delmar Reformed Church. Fort Orange was built by the Dutch at the same early date the English were landing at Plymouth Rock. Nothing remains in either location from those first houses built circa 1620, however both the Hudson and the Mohawk Valleys contain a number of fine examples of Dutch architecture from the early 17th and early 18th centuries. The focus of the lecture will be on the earliest houses that were built either as urban dwellings or rural homesteads. As always, the program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available following the talk.

On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays between 10 AM and 2 PM, the Town of Bethlehem accepts donations for Habitat ReStore of the Capital District of slightly used furnishings, cabinets, and other building materials at the Town of Bethlehem Transfer Station, 136 Rupert Rd, Selkirk, NY. See the Flyer for details.
