New initiatives, Upcoming plan revisions discussed

On February 8, the DC Chamber hosted DC Planning Director Eric Shaw to engage participants around major initiatives and upcoming revisions to the DC Comprehensive Plan -
the framework that guides future growth and
development in the city.

The DC comprehensive plan addresses a wide range of topics integral to the business community, including land use, development, housing, transportation, environmental protection, historic preservation, and more.

Key Points
  • The District of Columbia is adding nearly 1,000 residents to its population per month, and developing neighborhoods rapidly.

  • Two-thirds of the city's workforce commutes into DC from beyond our eight wards. How does this impact the city's infrastructure? How does this growth connect to the city's priorities and the needs of the private sector?
The DC Office of Planning will open up the amendment process to incorporate public comments and the City's current plans into one comprehensive plan in March. It will be important to make sure that any revisions to the comprehensive plan do not limit existing entrepreneurs or negatively affect the established retail corridors. Learn more about the Comprehensive Plan Amendment Process and how businesses fit into future plans.
