Legislative Day Panel:
Advocating for Policies that Support Earners and Learners

NAWB is excited to announce two special guest panelists for our Legislative Day General Session on Tuesday March 28th at The Forum 2017.

As we seek to further an agenda focused on youth, digital learning, advancing post-secondary credentials, and supporting all learners and earners to grow in the labor market, what are the policy drivers that must be considered, and who are the stakeholders that must be involved to accomplish our goals despite uncertainty and rapid change? What issues remain as obstacles to success? What conversations should we be having around higher education?

Former House Chairs of the Committee on Education & the Workforce, George Miller and Howard "Buck" McKeon, share their insights in a candid conversation that takes a brief look back, and then looks ahead to where we're going and how we can navigate this new landscape.

Hitting the Hill after The Forum 2017
Schedule visits to your Congress Members now.

Is your organization planning to "Hit the Hill" at the close of The Forum 2017? Meeting with your Congressional delegation is vital to ensure they understand key workforce development issues in their state and across the country. Even if you are not an expert on legislative issues, or have never talked to an elected official, you can still hold an effective meeting with your Senators and Representatives and/or their staff. By making an introduction and leaving behind information, you are taking the first step in developing a very important relationship.

How to Schedule Your Meeting

NAWB will release our Hit the Hill Toolkit in a few weeks. This will contain speaking points, policy priorities, and suggestions for preparing for your meetings and making the most of your time on the Hill. Once your visit is scheduled, send us an email so we can track the number of the visits and make sure you have the support you need.

Online Registration Closes March 4

Online registration for The Forum 2017 closes in just two and half weeks, on March 4. Act now to finalize your plans to attend March 25-28, 2017. While onsite registration will be available, it will be at the higher onsite rate.

Still not convinced of why The Forum is the premier event for workforce, education, and economic development? Check out what last year's attendees had to say:

Carol Wargo of Columbus, OH , on what stands out to her about The Forum: "For me, it's the depth of knowledge. When I really need to dig into a topic I know I'm going to find the workshop here that will take me to the next level."  Listen.
