Mentorship _ Networking Night logo
First and foremost I hope the holidays brought you health and happiness and continue into the new year! Happy New Year! My name is Rob Krauss, History '07 and I have served on the Alumni Board since 2011. I enjoy being a part of this great university by giving back. In my day job I am the Store Manager of the Camarillo Outlet UNDER ARMOUR so if you come in be sure to say hello. My wife and I live in Camarillo and love the great community, beautiful scenery, and giving back to CI.

A&FA has some great events planned for 2017 - including Dodger Day, our wine and beer mixer, and Mentorship & Networking Night. These activities can impact your life as an alumnus or pay it forward to a student. For example, Mentorship & Networking Night is just that, you have the opportunity to network with local leaders in your industry. It's a great opportunity to expand your network and learn from professionals in your field.

We also have our Alumni Helping Students program where you can contribute in a number of ways that directly impact students. As alumni, it's a great way to give back, pay it forward, and assist students in reaching their highest aspirations.

CI means the world to me because of the culture, the professors, and community are a cut above the rest and changed my life. My CI experience is one I hope I can give to another student and that is why I serve on the Alumni Board. The University is simply the best!

Sincerely,

CI senior's award-winning research compares success of immigrant Latinos to U.S.-born Latinos

Educating immigrants will strengthen a labor force in the long run by providing them with better skills and higher incomes. Further, Latino immigrants who arrived as children seem to fare even better with an education than children born in the U.S of immigrant parents.  These were conclusions from a research project that won  CI Sociology major Maria Pimentel second place in the CSU Student Research Competition and first prize for the Social Science Research and Instructional Center for Best Undergraduate Research Paper.
