Workforce 2021 Readiness Assessment!   Action Needed!!!
CareerSource Florida, in partnership with FloridaMakes and Florida's Regional Manufacturers Associations are working together to support the continuous improvement of Florida's manufacturing workforce.  This effort is focused on understanding the needs of  manufacturers, and will contribute to informing strategies for Florida's current and future workforce talent development systems necessary to support the growth and competitive ability of Florida's manufacturing sector.

We are asking for your help to complete a Readiness Assessment developed by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME).  The survey, which takes 15 minutes or less, has 27 questions designed to quickly collect baseline information on your company's workforce development efforts. The deadline for completion is June 27.  Click here to start the assessment.  Read more about the project here.

Thanks!!!!

The Future Is Here!
Here's why you want to come June 24

In 1998, Kodak had 170,000 employees and sold 85% of all photo paper worldwide.  Within just a few years, their business model disappeared and they went bankrupt.

What happened to Kodak will happen in a lot of industries in the next 10 year - and most people don't see it coming. Did you think in 1998 that 3 years later you would never take pictures on paper film again?

Yet digital cameras were invented in 1975. The first ones only had 10,000 pixels, but followed Moore's law. So as with all exponential technologies, it was a disappointment for a long time, before it became way superior and got mainstream in only a few short years. It will now happen with Artificial Intelligence, health, autonomous and electric cars, education, 3D printing, agriculture and jobs. Welcome to the 4th Industrial Revolution. Welcome to the Exponential Age. Read more of this fascinating article. You need to know this!

Getting Engaged
If we're going to impact the development of the future workforce we need to get them engaged, excited and inspired.  How?  Show them what we do and the satisfaction of producing something.  Alan Burgess President of H&S Swanson's had a group of engineering students from East Lake High and showed them a video of a Raytheon Small Diameter bomb that Swansons's produces the tail fins for.  Excited, interested, inspired?  You bet.
