Night On Broadway - Saturday, January 28th
The fastest growing one-day arts and music festival returns to Downtown Los Angeles this Saturday, January 28. Night on Broadway is a free festival produced in celebration of Councilmember José Huizar's Bringing Back Broadway economic development initiative. Night on Broadway awakens beautiful historic theatres and the blocks between them along the Broadway corridor. From emerging musical acts to national stars, artists to acrobats, and fashion designers to food trucks, Night on Broadway is all about celebrating Downtown Los Angeles.
Street Closure Notice
Please note Broadway will be closed from 11th to 1st Street for the event. In the Fashion District, there will be additional street closures at Olympic Boulevard, 9th and 8th Streets between Hill and Spring Streets. Los Angeles Street Streetscape Project is Underway!
Last week the LA Fashion District BID, Councilmember Jose Huizar, and Bureau of Street Services (BSS) broke ground on the Los Angeles Street Streetscape Project. As of this week, BSS has begun replacing broken sidewalks, planting new trees, improving lighting, and making the street more pedestrian-friendly.
Improvements will be made starting from Olympic Boulevard to 7th Street in 50-60 ft. sections.

Vote NO on Measure S
A measure on the upcoming March municipal election seeks to place a moratorium on all development in Los Angeles. Along with stopping almost all construction, Measure S would restrict housing development driving up rents, accelerating gentrification, and costing the city millions in lost tax revenue. The measure is opposed by Mayor Eric Garcetti, Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Greater Los Angeles, and the Downtown Women's Center.
What you need to know
- The election will be held on March 7, 2017 with an expected turnout of 16-20%.
- Absentee ballots will drop on February 7th.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) offers a number of business incentives for business and property owners. The Utility Infrastructure Loan Program (UIL)
LADWP's Utility Infrastructure Loan Program is available to new and existing commercial/industrial LADWP customers for the purchase and installation of:
- equipment required by the LADWP to provide electric energy or water service to the customer,
- requirements and/or water conservation equipment,
- power factor correction/power reliability equipment, and
- solar photovoltaic systems except for the feed-in-tariff (FiT) program.
The current loan program offers a competitive rate of 4.10%* for 1 to 10 years.
The Business Promotion Bill Credit (BPBC)
The Business Promotion Bill Credit (BPBC) program provides eligible new business customers with a sliding scale bill credit over a three year period as follows:
- Year 1 - 7.6%
- Year 2 - 5.0%
- Year 3 - 2.5%
Customers will have the opportunity to take advantage of other incentive and programs through the LADWP and the City's Economic Development and Workforce Department.
The BPBC program went into effect on October 1st, 2016 and discounts are awarded on a first come, first served basis.
