'Roxbury Reimagined' to Ponder Use of Space at RHS
Loretta Radulic, Roxbury's Superintendent of Schools provided an update on this year's district goals at Monday night's Board of Education meeting.

Every summer the board and the administration get together to lay out what the district goals will be for the coming year. This year's goals are grouped into four categories.

- Student Achievement/Professional Development

- Facilities/Finance & Safety/Security

- Culture/Climate & Community

- Roxbury Re-Imagined

One of the more interesting goals this year is the last one.  What will be the ultimate use of a 2,500 square foot space at the high school?

One of Radulic's goals is to convert the space to something the students really need. "The kids made a video to promote the idea. What do the students need? It's so exciting. We have this large space, and the goal is to find the best use for it," she said.

Accents on Dance Upcoming Programs

Hip Hop Dance After School

Hip Hop is an eclectic street style of dance that is performed in running shoes to current upbeat tempos. The dynamic moves taught in Hip Hop class are fast, stylish, funky and similar to those seen in music videos.

This class is appropriate for high energy dancers that are driven by a beat. Similar to a Jazz class, Hip Hop is broken down into 3 parts - warm up, corner work/technique and choreography. Students in a Hip Hop class will work on their strength, flexibility, and musicality through intricate fun and fast paced funky choreography.

Since the tempos are usually quicker than any other dance form, the choreography in a Hip Hop class provides a great cardio workout and is also a fun way to exercise the mind and memory.

(Children should wear comfortable clothes and sneakers to class)

Date:   Throughout the 2016/2017 School Year
Time: After-School at the Designated School
Location: Franklin and Jefferson Elementary Schools
