Essay Contest for Sophomores:
The Serra Club of St. Louis is inviting the Sophomores to participate in the Vocations Essay Contest!  The top winners will receive $1,000 or $500 or $250.  So I am encouraging the Sophomores to take a few minutes and write an essay from 150-300 words on the topic: "Can you tell us about how your relationship with a priest, sister, seminarian or deacon has enriched your life as a Catholic?"
I ask that all essays are typed and put into a word document and then emailed to me no later than Monday, February 13.  I will then send the essays to the Vocation Office and hopefully one or more essays will be chosen as winners!

Service Opportunity:
  1. 1.     The St. Patrick Center is having their "He Said She Said" Trivia Night on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark. They need many volunteers to make this event successful.  Volunteers will assist with set-up, registration, raffle sales, food and beverage, and scoring.  If anyone is interested in volunteering or has questions, please contact Michele Prevedel at mprevedel@stpatrickcenter.orgor call 314-802-0681.

Liturgy:
We will have an all school liturgy on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.  At that Mass we will celebrate Catholic Schools' Week/Mission Week.   Father Patrick Ryan will be our celebrant, and Kyle Huelsing from St. Joseph Cottleville will be our music minister.  Sr. Tere Maya, CCVI, and Congregational Coordinator from San Antonio, will also be with us and will speak to the school community after Mass.  You are most welcome to join us.
Retreats:
The Junior Retreat will be held on February 7, 2017 at the Shrewsbury Civic Center.  Please keep the girls in your prayers.

Please pray for the student leaders and the adult leaders as they continue to plan for the Kairos #31 Retreat which will take place on February 15-17, 2017.

Service Cards:
All students at IWA perform service as part of living the mission and following the example of Jesus, the Incarnate Word.
The Sophomore service cards are due March 1, 2017.
The Freshman service cards are due April 5, 2017.
The Juniors will perform their Junior Service Project from May 15-19 and May 22-25,
and will turn in all of their service documents on May 26, 2017.

FROM THE COUNSELING DEPARTMENT:
Junior Parents/Guardians: Be on the lookout for a letter detailing the next steps in the college process. I look forward to meeting with you and your daughter to discuss this exciting undertaking!

Senior Parents/Guardians: As your daughter continues receiving acceptances and scholarships, please ensure that she makes a copy and brings it in to the counseling office.  Additionally, the beginning of second semester is a great time to make second visits to colleges your daughter is strongly considering. Have fun - this is an exciting time!

Scholarships: For a complete listing of scholarships available, please see Naviance under the "Colleges" tab.
