Are you feeling hopeful?
I am! Maybe that's because I attended the Women's March LA last Saturday. The feeling of marching with 750,000 beautiful, positive people was very powerful and very hopeful! To feel the energy, click HERE to watch a video I posted on YouTube. Across the country, this was the largest protest in U.S. history.
To maintain a hopeful attitude going forward, here are 3 suggestions from my friend Josh Sonnenfeld that I also recommend:
1. LOOK OUT FOR YOURSELF. As Black feminist Audre Lorde famously wrote, "caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation." Build a network of friends, and stick with it. Remember you are part a beautiful community of folks, and we are in it for the long haul.
2.
LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER. Join your religious congregations, friends, family and neighbors in sending a strong signal that an attack against any community will be met with an outpouring of love. Get the ACLU's Mobile Justice App for your phone so you'll be ready to report injustice.
3.
TAKE BACK OUR GOVERNMENT. We haven't held our government accountable. We haven't ensured our representatives actually represent us. Its time to stand up and make sure your voice is being heard. Join the Sierra Club, or get involved with an issue advocacy group like the Courage Campaign.

On the Bright Side
Things have been feeling gloomy lately, so in an effort to fight the winter/political blues we will be featuring a piece of positive environmental news each month.
This month we're feeling grateful that in the final days of his term, President Obama made a $500 million payment to the United Nations Climate Fund, a payment that can not be undone by the current administration. This means that the U.S. has contributed 1/3 of its $3 billion pledge, money that will go towards developing nations so they can increase clean energy production and mitigate the effects of climate change.

Make a Difference Now
