January 2017

A Note from Jay
Looking Back and Looking Ahead
The New Year, 2017, will mark a major milestone for the CDP - twenty-five years of creating opportunities for people to live work and thrive on the Lower Cape. I'll have more to share in the coming months about our plans to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the CDP's founding. For now, I am excited about our plans for the coming year.

In this issue of our E-news, you can read about upcoming opportunities for small business owners to take part in our Grow Smart workshop series, or work one-on-one with a SCORE volunteer to grow their business. Our Housing Rehabilitation Program is looking for low to moderate income homeowners in need of help to make repairs to their homes in the towns of Dennis, Provincetown, Truro & Wellfleet. We have another First Time Home Buyer class coming up in April.

For more on the past year and plans for 2017, click below to see my recent interview on our weekly radio and television show, This Place Matters. Our brand new website also has loads of information about our work if you's like to learn more.

Safe, Stable, & Affordable Housing

General contractors are an integral piece of the puzzle for the success of our Housing Rehabilitation Program. Over the many years we have managed the program, $8.7 million has been injected into the local economy via contracts with local builders.

Right now we're looking for licensed contractors to bid on moderate rehab projects in Dennis, Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown. Projects range from $25,000-$35,000 and work includes--roofing, siding, windows, doors, boilers, electrical, plumbing and more. We're hosting an information session for contractors at Mid-Cape Home Centers in Orleans on Tuesday, February 21st from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM. Click here for more information

If you or someone you know is interested, contact the CDP's Housing Rehab Program Manager, Jean Stanley at (508) 240-7873 x14 or [email protected]
Strong Local Businesses
Shellfish grant

Oysterman, Jason Weisman, Owner of Wellfleet is Your Oyster, recently joined us as a guest on our weekly radio/television show, This Place Matters, to talk about his experience with the Shellfish Loan Fund.  The Shell
fish Loan Fund is a collaboration between the CDP and Wellfleet Shellfish Promotion and Tasting, Inc. (SPAT). It was created to specifically meet the needs of shellfishermen and aquaculturists in Wellfleet and on the Lower Cape. Find out how we're supporting the local shellfish community by tuning in to the show.
