Carondelet Soccer Senior Night on Thursday
When the Carondelet varsity soccer team hosts Amador Valley on Thursday, Feb. 2, it will mark the final regular season home game for seniors Gillian Cabral, Kiki Ilagan-Evangelista, Erin Ospeck and Jenny Stark. 

The game against Amador Valley is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., with the senior recognition ceremony slated to start around 5:30 p.m., when the Cougars welcome the four seniors and their families to the field. 

Carondelet is coming off a week that saw the Cougars post an 0-0-2 record, following ties against Foothill (1-1) and Monte Vista (0-0). The Cougars enter this week with a 13-1-2 overall record, and are in second place (behind Livermore) in the EBAL with a 6-1-2 mark.

The Cougars enter the final stretch of the regular season ranked first overall in the North Coast Section, seventh in the California, and 18th in the nation, according to the most recent MaxPreps rankings.

Late Spring Sport Registration
 
With the Friday, Jan. 27, due date for spring registration past, all completed registration forms submitted after Jan. 27, are subject to processing delays and MAY AFFECT TRYOUT CLEARANCE. Registration will remain open and forms can still be completed through  SPORTSWARE ONLINE . Please refer to the registration information link on the Carondelet Athletics website BEFORE starting the registration process. Track and Field Parent Meeting
 
On Monday, Feb. 6, there will be a parent's meeting for the Carondelet High School track and field team. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m., in the Hofmann Center on the De La Salle High School campus. All parents with daughters wanting to participate in track and field for the 2017 season are required to attend this meeting. 

Carondelet will also be selling track and field shorts (running ($18), biker ($15) and uniform tops ($25). Cash and checks will only be accepted. The running top is the same at 2016, so if you have a top from last year, you do not need to purchase a new uniform top for this season. 
Spring Sport Parent Meeting
 
On Wednesday, Feb. 15, there will be a Carondelet High School spring sports parent meeting for diving, lacrosse, swimming and softball. The meeting will be held in the Garaventa Center on the Carondelet campus, and will begin at 6 p.m. 
Spring Sport Online Store
 
Be on the look out for the opening of the Carondelet Online Store for the spring season. The online store is scheduled to open on Monday, Feb. 6, and should be open until Feb. 19. Log onto  www.carondeleths.org/athletics  for all your Carondelet Athletic apparel purchases. 
Last Week In Cougar Athletics
 
Varsity Basketball (16-4, 8-0 EBAL)
- The Carondelet varsity basketball team had a very busy week, playing four times in five days. The compact schedule resulted in a 3-1 record, as the Cougars improved to 16-4 overall. 
- With three EBAL wins, Carondelet is now 8-0 against league opponents. 
- Carondelet opened the week with a convincing 73-32 win at Granada on Tuesday. Then, in a match-up between the NCS and CCS top ranked teams, the Cougars suffered a 64-48 loss to Archbishop Mitty. 
- The Cougars closed the week with a 58-30 win at Dublin, before dominating Foothill on Saturday, running away with a 65-14 victory. 

Junior Varsity Basketball (17-3, 6-2 EBAL)
- The Carondelet junior varsity team also played four games last week, posting a 2-2 record. 
- After opening the week with a 33-28 win over Granada, the Cougars suffered back-to-back losses to Archbishop Mitty (46-64) and Dublin (61-43 in overtime). 
- Carondelet ended the week with a 62-38 victory at Foothill on Saturday. 

Freshman Basketball (9-5, 5-1 EBAL)
- The Carondelet freshman basketball team posted a 2-2 record last week. The Cougars opened the week with a 42-22 win at Granada, before falling to Archbishop Mitty (56-18) at home. 
- The team responded with a 32-31 victory over Dublin, before closing the week with a 28-25 loss at Foothill on Saturday. 

Varsity Soccer (13-1-2, 5-1-2 EBAL)
- In another challenging week against quality EBAL opponents, the Carondelet varsity soccer team posted a pair of ties in their two matches. 
- The Cougars opened the week with a 1-1 tie at Foothill on Tuesday, before playing Monte Vista to a 0-0 draw on Thursday night. 
- Carondelet's only goal of the week came from Cassity Tshimbalanga, off an assist from Ellie Ospeck. 

Junior Varsity Soccer (8-4, 5-4 EBAL)
- The Carondelet junior varsity soccer team won both their matches last week and are now 8-4 overall and 5-4 in EBAL action. 
- The Cougars had a 3-0 win at Foothill on Tuesday, before defeating Monte Vista, 1-0, at home on Thursday. 

Freshman Soccer (12-3-2, 7-1 EBAL)
- The Carondelet freshman soccer team continued on its roll, posting wins over Foothill (4-0) and Monte Vista (2-0), last week. 
- The Cougars are now 12-3-2 overall and 7-1 in the EBAL. Following Friday's win over Monte Vista, Carondelet has won its last seven games.
- During the 7-game win streak, Carondelet has outscored its opponents 29-3, including a 19-1 advantage over the last five games.

Sahara McElroy '20 c ontinues to make tremendous strides from the beginning of the season, and it is a joy to witness firsthand all of her hard work paying off. Our theme of this season is to keep the fight - and no one has shown more than Sahara.

Junior Varsity

After a 13-0 start, the JV basketball team split their next six games. During a two-hour team meeting, Ariya Chestnut '18 contributed wonderful insight and sage advice for the team. The next day the team defeated Foothill 62-38, playing as a cohesive team. Ariya's leadership was, and will continue to be, invaluable to this team.

Erin Ospeck '17
Soccer
Varsity

Erin Ospeck '17 has found herself back in the starting line up, after suffering from a torn ACL last season. Last week was the first time Erin has really shown what she's capable of doing, and the impact she makes when she's on the field. Transitioning to the outside midfield position gives her the ability to take on opponents with her speed, and serving in fantastic crosses for her teammates.

Carondelet center Ali Bamberger '19 played a key role in helping the Cougars post a 3-1 record last week. Aside from being the team's leading scorer with 11 points against Archbishop Mitty, she produced the resiliency the team needed in a challenging four-game week.

Junior Varsity

Natalie Silvera '19 had a solid week on defense, while playing against two tough opponents. Natalie's presence on the back line helped her team post two shutout wins. Keep up the great work, Nat!

Madeline Winter '20

Freshman

Madeline Winter '20, is the freshman soccer player of the week. Last week, Madeline had a goal and an assist in both games, helping the Cougars post a 2-0 record.
