Igloo wrapped with yellow twine
Wrapped igloo, Nunavuk, Canada, by Scarlett Hooft Graafland

Scarlett Hooft Graafland is a Dutch sculptor and photographer who travels to very remote places on Earth and creates art, using as her subject the land itself, along with a touch of human whimsy. Her designs call attention to the austerity of the place, the wildness of color, and the quirky playfulness of humans.

She makes sure that none of her works of art leave any trace on the land.

"My response to climate change is a visual one", Graafland said in a New York Times article. "I still hope the human race will survive, so I try to grasp some of the grim background, but add some lightness as well."
