Rutgers University Highly Ranked in New Report

U.S. News and World Report released its Best Global Universities list Tuesday, and Rutgers University came in at number 60.  The survey ranked 750 schools around the planet, and American universities took 181 spots on the list, including the top spot. Only two New Jersey institutions, Princeton University and RU, made the list. The global rankings considered a university's reputation for research, publications and books produced by its students and faculty, conferences, international collaboration, number of doctorates awarded and other indicators.  Read more here.
RU-Newark Most Diverse College Campus in Nation
Rutgers University-Newark is at the top of a new list of the most diverse college campuses in the country.  Based on RU-Newark's Strategic Plan, however, this ranking should come as no surprise.  A major component of that Plan calls for building a new residential living-learning community designed specifically to facilitate leadership development, curricular intersections, cross-sector community engagement, and mentoring of future generations.  RU-Newark has made considerable progress toward that goal already by piloting a Social Justice Living-Learning Community that will grow into an Honors Living-Learning Community (HLLC) housing upwards of 500 students who are primarily from Greater Newark. RU-Camden on Cutting Edge of Nursing Education

New state-of-the-art, innovative clinical simulation technology is bringing nursing students at Rutgers University-Camden to the cutting edge of nursing education.  The students are being trained on 10 new "high fidelity" patient simulator manikins that breathe, have a pulse, and manifest symptoms as if they were real people.  "We use simulation as an educational tool that allows our students to have active participation in simulated scenarios that they would not be able to receive in a clinical setting," says Robert Scoloveno, an assistant professor at the Rutgers School of Nursing-Camden. "These range from acute situations, such as a heart attack, to situations as simple as communication with a patient." To read more, click here
