How Many Ounces Are There In A Sunday?
Perspectives on Sunday Liquor Sales in Minnesota

bottles_on_belt.jpg
Arguments on the hot topic of liquor sales seem to boil down to whether stores being open Sunday results in more sales and more choice. Dakota Regional Chamber of Commerce-in partnership with the Minnesota Retailers Association-brings a panel of perspectives to this issue at the February 3rd Legislative Breakfast.

As the Minnesota House seemingly nears a vote to pass Sunday sales, the Senate is likely undecided. Join us for this insiders panel conversation touching on Blue Laws, public sentiment, consumer behavior, impacts on liquor stores, border communities, Minnesota's current system, and unintended consequences. Groundhog Day is Thursday, February 2! Tradition has it that if the groundhog sees its shadow on February 2 it will be frightened by it and will return to its burrow, indicating that there will be 6 more weeks of winter. If it does not see its shadow, then spring is on the way. Read more on the history of Groundhog Day and Punxsutawney Phil.

Downtown Plans for Rosemount Revisited

Chamber members who attended last week's Rosemount Business Council meeting received a sneak peek of the proposed "Development Framework for Downtown Rosemount." The City of Rosemount will also be holding an open house to share the proposed report on Thursday, February 9, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in room 200 of the Steeple Center, 14375 South Robert Trail in Rosemount. The report provides the first major revision of original plan created in 2004 to encourage development that maintains the character and feel of Downtown. We encourage you to attend so that there is a clear understanding of the proposed changes and impacts on downtown Rosemount.

Member Spotlight: These Experiences are Truly Priceless

Hannah Steinmetz, Dakota Chiropractic
It has always been my dream to work one on one with people and care for their health. Becoming a chiropractor has allowed me to realize that dream in, literally, a "hands-on" way. Working alongside patients to achieve their goals of health and wellness has been more satisfying than I could have imagined. Becoming a business owner was a more recent dream. One year ago, I opened Dakota Chiropractic in Eagan (next door the Chamber offices, in fact!). One of the best pieces of advice I received from my mentors at that time, was to join the local Chamber. It has been such an incredible opportunity to be a part of the DCR Chamber. I have met wonderful people that I am constantly learning from. It has given me a chance to see examples of individuals and teams thriving in their businesses and a goal to set my sights to. These experiences are truly priceless!
