Peter Hartmann, MD, Appointed to American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer
Peter Hartmann, MD, FACS,
received a three-year appointment as Cancer Liaison Physician for the cancer program at Anna Jaques Hospital. Cancer Liaison Physicians are an integral part of cancer programs accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC).

Cancer Liaison Physicians are responsible for evaluating, interpreting, and reporting their facilities' performance data through the National Cancer Data Base and facilitating quality improvement initiatives based on data findings. They are also responsible for leading CoC initiatives within the cancer program and collaborating with agencies such as the American Cancer Society on behalf of the hospital.
Dr. Hartmann is a board-certified general surgeon, the Medical Director of the
Gerrish Breast Care Center, and member of the multidisciplinary team at the Anna Jaques Cancer Center affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. To learn more about cancer programs at Anna Jaques v

Annual Tree of Light Ceremony - tomorrow!

The Annual Tree of Light celebration is a community-wide remembrance event with each light reflecting the memory of a loved one. Following the tree lighting there will be holiday music performed by Newburyport High School's Varisty Choral Group and the First Congregational Church of Georgetown Bell Ringers.

Sox for Socks Drive
Donate new packaged white sock in support of the homeless this winter
Newburyport Podiatrists Dr. Angela Barnes and Dr. James DiResta, in conjunction with the Podiatry Division of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, are participating in the Sox for Socks drive in support of the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) to provide new white socks for homeless men, women and children.
Why socks? The homeless spend much of their time outside and are often exposed to rain, snow, ice and cold temperatures; leaving many to wear soaking wet socks and shoes for days or weeks at a time which can result in serious infections and ailments, such as immersion foot or frostbite.
The best way to prevent conditions like these is to keep feet clean, dry, and warm - you can make this possible for those who are less fortunate by participating in the Sox for Socks drive. Pairs of new, white packaged socks can be dropped off at:
