Garden Buds Volunteers Needed
Are you interested in gardening? Join Marshfield Clinic and Healthy Lifestyles - Marshfield Area Coalition as a volunteer for Garden Buds and assist students with garden education! We are seeking volunteers to help with the Garden Buds program in the spring and/or summer. The 2017 Garden Buds program is a club offered to students in grades 4-7 at Marshfield Clinic Youth Net. Marshfield Clinic Youth Net is a comprehensive afterschool program serving the Marshfield area, promoting educational and academic success; development of personal and social skills; and healthy active living.

There are two ways to get involved:
  • Garden Buds Instructors lead students in garden related activities every Monday from 4:45-5:30 p.m. from March 20 through May 26. Lessons may include garden work, harvesting, and related activities. Garden Buds Instructors do not need to have gardening experience and will have support from a Marshfield Clinic Youth Net mentor.
  • Garden Buds Growers ensure that garden beds are productive and well-maintained. Gardening experience is helpful, but not required and Growers are not required to assist with Garden Buds student lessons.
For more information, please see our agency page at volunteermarshfield.org or contact Laura Zelenak or Theresa Balinghasay at 715-221-8400 or [email protected].
Seeking Bicycle Discount Program Business Partners
Marshfield Clinic and Healthy Lifestyles-Marshfield Area Coalition are seeking local Marshfield area business partners for our 7th Annual Bicycle Discount Program. The Bicycle Discount Program, which runs from June 1 to August 31, is designed to increase physical activity through biking and traffic to local businesses that participate in the program.  Businesses offer a small incentive or discount to community members who ride their bike to the business, or make an in-kind donation that can be used for a grand prize. If you are interested in being a business partner, please call Theresa at 715-221-8400 or email [email protected].
Local Food Expo
Learn about Marshfield's local food movement at our Local Food Expo event, which is a place for farmers to showcase their products (similar to a farmer's market), while providing education to the public about their products, farm, processing, etc. The Local Food Expo will take place on Tuesday, March 14 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at First Presbyterian Church (200 S. Lincoln Ave.). The   Wisconsin Potato Growers Association Spudmobile exhibit will be featured and offerings from  Chef C's Munchie Mobile food truck will be available for purchase. The event is family friendly and free to attend.  More information can be found on the  Facebook event page.
