I feel we have an obligation to get involved in the community we live and work in. The Chamber offers a lot of different functions and activities to support the local community and businesses.. I want to do my part to assist.
5. What do you feel is the Chamber's role in business here in Henderson County?
The Chamber should be the "go to" group for new and local business to help assist, answer questions and guide you to get the support needed.  The Chamber is the Face of Henderson County for new families looking at the area for relocation.

Chamber Member Spotlight

Casa of Henderson County Inc.

1. What products or services do you sell?
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Henderson County, Inc. recruits and trains community volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children of the Henderson County Juvenile Court system.  The advocates help the children navigate the court system, which they find themselves in at no fault of their own, but because they have been abused and neglected.  The advocates also work with the Department of Children's Services, as well as local service providers such as Carl Perkins, Quinco, and Pathways, to ensure the children have their needs met while the family works towards becoming a healthy environment for the children to return to.  The CASA Volunteer also becomes a constant, stable, and supportive friend to the child while they heal from the trauma they have experienced.

2. Why did you join the Chamber?

Our organization joined the Chamber to participate in the greater community network the Chamber provides.  Many of our past and current Board of Directors members have been members of the Chamber, and many of our Corporate Champion supporters are also members of the Chamber.

3. Biggest "win" in your business's history? Explain what it was, how it came about and what it meant to your business.

Perhaps our biggest "win" is reaching our 10th Anniversary this year.  In July 2017 we will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the forming of CASA of Henderson County, Inc.  This is a huge win for our organization and the community of Henderson County.  Being a non-profit organization in a rural community is difficult.  Resources are limited, volunteers can be difficult to recruit, but the Henderson County community has embraced CASA and has consistently supported us over the last 10 years.  Since our incorporation, we have served about 400 abused and neglected children from Henderson County.  Children with a CASA volunteer spend, on average, 8 months less in foster care than a child without a CASA.  Children in foster care often return home and re-enter foster care multiple times; we track our CASA kids up to 18 months after their cases close and 100% of our kids tracked in that time frame are remaining stable in the home where they were placed when their case closed.  Having a CASA volunteer has made all the difference in the lives of these children.

4. Tell us an interesting and fun tidbit about your business.
When people hear that we advocate for abused and neglected children, their first question almost always is, "How do you handle all those sad stories?"  Yes, the kids we work with have experienced very sad situations.  But children are incredibly resilient and there are so many victories that our volunteers get to experience alongside the kids they advocate for.  It is so wonderful to see a child excel in school when they have always struggled before, or a child who has never had a stable home get to experience a permanent home.  One of the greatest victories is to see a family broken by drug addiction be freed from that addiction and be reunited healthier than ever before!  These victories are why we can fight through the sad times to see our kids and families healthier in the long run.

7 Ways to Increase Your Leads, Customers and Sales

1. Speaking. This is a great one as it also positions you as an expert. You can speak at live events or you can speak on your phone for teleclasses or you can do both. I personally do both and have found they work very well together.

2. Web site. People are constantly searching the Internet looking for products and services you're already selling. Why not cash in on this by turning your Web site into a lead generating machine?

3. Networking. Both online (also called social networking and includes sites such as MySpace, Facebook and LinkedIn) and offline (includes networking events and live seminars filled with your target market) are good ways to find leads and clients.

4. Advertising. Not my favorite but it definitely has its place. And there are times where this is the absolute best way to pick up new leads.

5. Existing/past clients. You can pick up quite a bit of work both by up selling your existing clients or by reconnecting with past clients and seeing if their needs have changed.

6. Media. Getting articles placed or being interviewed on radio or television can also increase your bottom line.

7. Strategic partners or affiliates. This is where other people promote you to their customer base for most likely a percentage of the sale. The difference between strategic partners and affiliates is strategic partners tend to have a more long-term relationship with you and affiliates can be a one-off or short term (for instance, they promote a sale you have going on).
There are other lead sources, but these ideas will get you started. Best yet, all these sources will work together for you and feed off each other (and even increase your overall referrals). For instance, someone might hear you speak, then meet you at an event, then check out your web site and finally hire you. Or they might first meet you on Facebook, then head on to your web site, and then hear you speak and finally buy a product.
