Polytechnic Campus added to K-State mobile app
Find resources for the Polytechnic Campus right at your fingertips!
The K-State mobile application, which provides university information in a variety of areas, has now added the Polytechnic Campus as a "location" option. Once the app has been downloaded and the Polytechnic Campus is chosen as the right locale, anyone can experience specific resources related to students, future students, faculty and staff, and friends and family.

Be someone's hero and donate blood Jan. 25 and 26
Did you know that a blood donation could save up to three lives? Be someone's hero and participate in this month's blood drive.
On Wednesday, Jan. 25 and Thursday, Jan. 26, Kansas State Polytechnic will be holding a blood drive in the Tech Center in room 123. Reserve an appointment by signing up in the library.
If you donate, there are three things you need to remember:
- Drink extra fluids the day of and the day before donating
- Be sure to eat the day of the donation
- Bring a picture ID and your Red Cross ID if you have donated before
The Polytechnic Campus has an opportunity to make a real difference with this blood drive because, in the new year, there have been critical shortages that threaten the immediate care of thousands of people. Severe weather
has forced the cancellation of approximately 215 Red Cross blood drives in two dozen states, resulting in more than 7,500 uncollected blood and platelet donations.

Polytechnic Campus to host annual chili cook off
The Kansas State Polytechnic annual chili cook off will be Friday, Feb. 10. Registration forms may be picked up in the Student Life Center, Library or College Center, room 208. You may also email your completed form to [email protected] or [email protected].
Categories will include:
Melt Your Face Off, Warm N' Fuzzy, Tickle Your Taste Buds, Best Chili Name, and 2017 Chili Cook-off Champion.

K-State Faculty Senate to host two open forums with university president, provost
 The Faculty Senate of Kansas State University will be hosting two open forums with the president and provost during the spring 2017 semester.
- An open forum will be held in Manhattan on Thursday, Feb. 2, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on the main floor of the Alumni Center.
- An open forum will be held in Salina on Monday, Feb. 13, from 9 to 10 a.m. in the College Center conference room.
These forums provide an opportunity for the campus community to visit with President Myers and Provost Mason. Faculty Senate executive committee members will begin with a few questions, and then audience members will be given the opportunity to ask further questions. The event will be video streamed online for those unable to attend in person. The link

IT department gives helpful reminder of campus phone features
The Kansas State Polytechnic phone system has many capabilities that users may not be aware of. Here are some of the features you might find useful:
- Call waiting allows you to be notified of an incoming call while your phone is in use. You can place a call on hold while talking on the other line and switch back and forth between them. Call waiting can be deactivated if specifically requested.
- Call forwarding causes calls to your phone to be automatically transferred to another local on or off campus number. When a call is forwarded, your phone will ring with a short ring. You cannot answer the call if it is forwarded. Forwarding does not prevent you from making outgoing calls.
- Call hold lets you place a call on hold in order to make another call. When the second call is finished, you can return to the first one.
- Call conferencing allows you to be connected to two other parties on or off campus in a three-party conversation.
- Automatic callback allows you to be notified when an on-campus number is no longer busy.

Thank you to all Science Olympiad volunteers!
I would like to send a big high-five to all those who volunteered at this year's regional Science Olympiad competition! The Polytechnic Campus has been hosting the junior high and high school science contest for more than 20 years, and one of the reason's we've been entrusted to do so is because of everyone's dedicated and loyal involvement. It is important that we continue to contribute to our community as well as promote STEM education. Thank you.

Aviation Scholarships:

Engineering Scholarships:

ENGINEERING, BUSINESS and IT majors - Koch Industries is offering scholarships to full-time students. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.25 or higher.

The Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship is available to those students who will be a freshman or sophomore in 2017-2018. Must be no older than 20 years old as of August 1, 2017. Must have a minimum GPA of 2.75. DEADLINE: Feb 8.

Military Children:
Children of active-duty, reserve/guard, or retired military are eligible to apply for the Scholarship for Military Children Program. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Each of the 700 recipients will receive $2,000. DEADLINE: Feb 17.

Study Abroad Scholarships:
Ever think of studying abroad but don't think you can afford it? Check into the Gilman scholarship. K-State Polytechnic has had students study abroad with the assistance of this scholarship.
Hispanic Students:
The Hispanic Scholarship Fund offers scholarships to students of Hispanic heritage. Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Must be enrolled at full-time. Permanent legal residents and DACA students are eligible to apply along with U.S. citizens. DEADLINE: March 30.
