Scholarships have become an essential part to financing a college education. These awards can bridge the gap in the financial picture. Thanks to the generosity of donors who have endowed over 130 separate scholarship funds, with focus areas that range from town of residence to field of study and more, we are able to help over 350 students each year pursue their college plans.
One application opens the door. Any Worcester County graduating high school senior planning to enroll in college this fall should check out our Scholarships 2017 portal on our website
www.greaterworcester.org.
Applications are due on Monday, March 6th. Awards will be announced three months later.

 Winter Supper Feb. 28
On February 28th, we will gather at ArtsWorcester for our annual Winter Supper. We will be celebrating community creativity this year with the 13th Annual College Art Showcase as well as youth performances from African Community Education Program, Girls Inc., Southeast Asian Coalition and the Worcester Chamber Music Society. Early Childhood Grants Open 2/1
According to research, a child's first eight years are the most critical for human development, and GWCF believes that building a solid foundation during these years is the most effective way to assure a healthy and productive life. The Foundation has made early childhood education a priority in its funding initiatives. These grants will support early childhood programs that increase the quality and quantity of formal early education for low-income children, support parents and families in their roles as teachers, caregivers, and supporters of their children's development, and help eliminate summer learning loss among low-income children in greater Worcester. The typical grant range is $5,000 to $25,000. For more information click

WTAG's Radiothon Raises Nearly $40,000 for DCF
Each year the WTAG Christmas for Children Fund sends a grant to the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to purchase Christmas presents for the children in the DCF system. On Thursday December 8, 2016, Worcester's News, Traffic & Weather Station (
WTAG
) hosted a one day (12 hour) in-house radio drive to collect donations for this
Fund. The live local morning & afternoon show hosts, Jim Polito and Jordan Levy, devoted their shows to asking listeners to call in with donations while volunteers from DCF answered the phones to take donation pledges from around the community.
