SSO hosts Woodstock Choralaires in celebration of Christmas favourites


The Stratford Symphony Orchestra welcomes the Woodstock Choralaires as guest artists for Choral Christmas, a celebration of Christmas music through the ages on Saturday, December 19, at 7:30 p.m.

The program will open with Christmas Festival Overture, a medley of Christmas favourites arranged by Leroy Anderson, and then transport concertgoers through an eclectic potpourri that includes Variations on Jingle Bells, Polar Express Suite, Selections from The Nutcracker, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, Sleigh Ride and many more familiar selections. (See complete program.)
 
SSO principal conductor William Rowson will be joined on the
Doug Shippey
podium by Choralaires conductor Doug Shippey. The concert, at Knox Presbyterian Church, is the third of six in the SSO's current season.
 
Tickets are available at Fanfare Books, Blowes Stationery (downtown), Festival Marketplace kiosk and Lyric Flowers (St. Marys), as well as on the SSO website. Tickets are $40 for adults and $10 for students (with a valid ID). Children under 12 are admitted free.
