Seis Lagos Vehicle Burglaries

A Message from the Collin County Sheriff's Office:
On November 29, 2017 at approximately 4:00 p.m., Collin County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) Investigators took Ryan Thompson (who resides in Allen, TX) and Jacoby Lewis (who resides in Plano, TX)  into custody for possessing stolen property taken during the commission of a Burglary of Motor Vehicle (BMV) offense in the Seis Lagos community.  During their respective interviews with CCSO Investigators, Thompson and Lewis tendered voluntary confessions admitting to breaking into eleven (11) vehicles in Seis Lagos.  CCSO Investigators have recovered sports memorabilia, firearms, and other property stolen during the commission of the offenses.   It is anticipated multiple Burglary of Motor Vehicle criminal charges will be filed against Thompson and Lewis who are still in custody at the Collin County Detention Center.  Hopefully, you can share this with the Seis Lagos community to alleviate any concerns they may have about this being an ongoing problem.

Message from the President of the SLCSA Board:
I want to send a message to the community regarding our Safety Officers.  The main function of the Safety Officers is to greet and log visitors / contractors when they come into the community. We can and do ask visitors where they are going and if the homeowner is expecting them. If so, they are logged and can proceed. This process is similar with contractors. These functions also do provide a deterrent effect. Please note - our roads are publicly funded and as such they are public. Some are of the mistaken opinion that we can prevent entrance to the community. That opinion is incorrect.

Furthermore, our Safety Officers are not guards or our personal security or protection. They are NOT armed. The responsibility for your safety and security resides with each homeowner.  It is the responsibility of each homeowner to act prudently - lock the doors to your home and vehicles, do not store valuables or firearms in your car.

Other Safety Officer responsibilities include the safety around the common assets of the community such as the clubhouse, cabana, pools, and other common areas.

Our Safety Officers will try to assist in some personal emergencies like auto accidents until authorities arrive.  However, they do not get involved in finding your pet or domestic issues with the exception of calling the appropriate authorities.

Finally, you all can be of great help to the safety of our community by contacting the Safety Officers and letting them know when you are expecting guests, contractors, or deliveries.

Regards,
Ray Nerpel
