Notice:
In anticipation of the pending snow, our dump site will be CLOSED for leaf drop off and we will NOT have leaf crews out on Saturday, December 9, 2017.
Our last leaf drop offs for 2017 will be on Friday, December 15th between 11am - 3pm and Saturday, December 16th between 7am - 3pm.
Be sure to check the upcoming leaf schedule for updates on pick ups through December, subject to change due to weather, equipment breakdown and manpower availability.

Reminder to All Residents: Parking Prohibited on Snow Covered Roads
Clear Snow and Ice from Vehicles Before Operating
Residents are reminded that Ordinance 143-21 prohibits park
ing on snow covered roads. When snow is anticipated, use off street parking as an alternative. Vehicles are subject to summonses and the potential of being towed at the owner's expense.
It is necessary to have the streets accessible and free from vehicles parked on the side to allow for the plows to complete their work.
The above parking prohibitions shall remain in effect after the snow has ceased until the streets have been plowed sufficiently and to the extent that parking will not interfere with the normal flow of traffic.
Additionally, residents are reminded that there are motor vehicle statutes that require all snow and ice to be cleared from a vehicle before operating said vehicle on the roadway. This is to avoid flying ice and snow, which can potentially cause visibility problems for other drivers.
Snow should not be shoveled, thrown nor deposited in the roadway from sidewalks and driveways. When clearing sidewalks and driveways, please pile snow on the side of the driveway and do not throw it in the street.

Hillsborough Kicks off 2017 Holiday Season with Tree Lighting
On Friday, December 1st,
Mayor Carl Suraci, with the help of Santa Clause, lit the Township Christmas Tree at the Municipal Complex. Hundreds of Hillsborough Residents g
athered to welcome Santa as he arrived, courtesy of the Flagtown Fire Department.
Spectators were treated to live performances by local performers and an appearance by Olaf and Queen Elsa from "Frozen". Hot chocolate and snacks were available while the children waited to visit with Santa. Additional festivities included a train ride, live animals, a human snow globe, a snow machine and fire barrels to keep folks warm.
Hillsborough's holiday fun continues on Tuesday, December 12th, as Hillsborough Township celebrates the first night of Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, with a Menorah lighting ceremony at 6pm. The celebration will be sponsored by the Chabad Center for Jewish Life. More information regarding this ceremony can be found at http://www.myjewishcenter.org

Adopt A Highway
Several members of the Hillsborough Municipal Alliance participated in road side clean up on Saturday, November 4th along Rte. 206. The Adopt A Highway program is sponsored by the Department of Transportation and the Hillsborough Municipal Alliance sponsors a section of Rte. 206 from Homestead Road to New Amwell Road. Two times a year, volunteers from the Municipal Alliance pick up trash along the road to keep our community clean.
The Municipal Alliance is made up of volunteers in the community. Their mission is to educate and provide resources for our community on drug and alcohol prevention.

Hillsborough PBA and Dance For The Cure Work Together to Help Those Battling Breast Cancer

Last week, Hillsborough PBA 205 President Chris Giraldi, Delegate Ted Lewis, and Chief Darren Powell presented
Kathleen Cirioli and Joanne from "Dance for the Cure" with a donation to help families battling breast cancer in the area. Last year,
"Dance for the Cure" was able to help 50 families in the local community. Dance for the Cure is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization committed to the prevention and cure of breast cancer through the celebration of dance.
Hillsborough PBA 205 is delighted to see the first half of their fundraising efforts go towards a worthy cause.

Hunterdon Healthcare Opens Pediatric Office in Hillsborough
On Saturday, October 14th, Hunterdon Healthcare, opened its Pediatric Office in Hillsborough with an open house and a ribbon cutting.
Several Township Officials including Mayor Carl Suraci, Deputy Mayor Gloria McCauley, and David Kois, Business Advocate joined Robert Wise, President and CEO of Hunterdon Healthcare and his staff for the ribbon cutting.

Hunterdon Pediatric Associates, a practice operated by Hunterdon Healthcare, opened a new office in Hillsborough on October 2

, 2017. The office is located at 286 Route 206 & Triangle Road.
Hunterdon Pediatric Associates consists of a team of highly trained physicians, certified pediatric nurse practitioners, nurses, certified medical assistants and patient service representatives. All of the physicians are board-certified in pediatric medicine, having completed intensive training and examinations. Rachel Brauner, DO, and Lori Ioriatti, CPNP, will be providing care at the Hillsborough location.
Rachel Brauner, DO, received her medical degree from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York and completed her residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania. She is board certified in pediatrics and an active staff member at Hunterdon Medical Center. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Lori Ioriatti, CPNP, is a graduate of Kean University and Seton Hall University. She is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner and received her masters of science certification from Seton Hall University.
The Hillsborough office is the fifth location for Hunterdon Pediatric Associates. They also have offices located in Flemington, Clinton and Whitehouse Station.

Tickets Now Available for NJ Devils' "My Town" Hillsborough Night
NJ Devils vs Philadelphia Flyers, Jan. 13th
The "My Town" Series Program now in it's 4th year highlights New Jersey towns during National Hockey League games played at the Prudential Center in Newark. The New Jersey Devils tested the program during the 2013-2014 National Hockey League season with 5 New Jersey towns as part of their pilot program. The success of the initial program, lead to an expanded program during the 2014-2015 season and will continue with enthusiasm this season.
This is a great event open to all ages! Tickets and Group Packages will be on sale for township residents who would like to attend. The Hillsborough Police Department will present the Honor Guard at the beginning of the game. Hillsborough Township will be recognized throughout the game, including a group welcome on the scoreboard. Following the game, Hillsborough residents will be invited to the ice for a post-game photo! In addition, January 13th is Chico Resch mini stick night honoring former Devil and current color commentator Glenn "Chico" Resch. The first 9,000 fans in attendance will receive a commemorative mini stick.

What Township Residents Can Do with Fall Leaves
Keep Your Lawn Healthy & Green by Cutting and Leaving it!
With Autumn in full swing, the leaves have begun to fall and cover your lawn. Hillsborough Township encourages you to help the Sustainable Hillsborough initiative by Cutting and Leaving It. Instead of disposing of your lawn clippings and leaves, try leaving your grass clipping on your lawn. This practice helps keep your lawn healthy and green. In addition, instead of placing leaves at the bottom of your driveway, place them in a compost heap in your yard. Compost piles are easy and cheap to construct and help to reduce Hillsborough's waste. For more information about Cut and Leave It, read the brochure on the township website.
"If you currently recycle your lawn clippings and leaves by staging them for pick-up through the Hillsborough Public Works Department leaf pick-up program, you are already helping to avoid air pollution and wasted resources. However, you can do more by reducing waste at the source. Leave the grass clippings on your lawn when you mow, compost your leaves, and let nature do the recycling for you," stated Deputy Mayor McCauley.
The Hillsborough Public Works Department will be running their annual leaf pick-up program starting in November.

Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) invites customers to celebrate the holiday season by entering its fifth annual "Merry & Bright" Holiday Lights Photo Contest.
Participants can enter by submitting a photo of their home's outdoor holiday light display on the
JCP&L Facebook page from Monday, Nov. 27 to Friday, Dec. 15. Up to 10 finalists will be selected by JCP&L based on criteria such as creativity and number of lights. Finalists' photos will be posted on Facebook for public voting from Monday, Dec. 18 to Friday, Dec. 22.
The grand prize winner will receive a $200 Visa® gift card and a set of LED holiday lights controlled by a mobile app. The runner up will receive a $100 gift card.
More information, including complete contest rules, will be posted to the
JCP&L Facebook page. The "Merry & Bright" contest is open only to JCP&L customers who are legal residents of New Jersey and who are at least 18 years of age. Only one entry per household will be accepted. Employees and family members of FirstEnergy, JCP&L or its advertising agency are not eligible.
