TWO NEW CAROLS IN PRINT THIS WEEK
Out this week are two new carols that we'll hope you'll be able to consider for your seasonal programmes.

Song of the Angels  is for unaccompanied SATB choir with optional organ, and sets a 17th century text by poet and satirist, George Wither.  Inspired by the 17th century English composer Orlando Gibbons, with musical snippets of one of his hymns, it would make the perfect ending for a school, church or cathedral Christmas concert.

We're also delighted to announce a new upper voices and organ version of Hodie!.  The original SATB/organ setting of this exuberant and uplifting carol features on Alexander's acclaimed Tenebrae disc, 'On Eagles' Wings'.

And if you're busy planning Christmas services and concerts, don't forget Alexander's other carols too: wrapped_presents.jpg

Epiphany Carol (SATB a cappella)
Lute-book Lullaby (SATB a cappella and SATB/organ versions)
Betelehemu (SATB with optional drums)

NEW COMMISSIONS FOR CHRISTMAS 2016

We're delighted to be able to bring news that Alexander has been commissioned by BBC Music Magazine to write a short a cappella SATB carol for their Christmas 2016 issue!

Love Came Down At Christmas sets the beautiful poem by Christina Rossetti, and has been written to easily fall within the capabilities of church choirs far and wide.

Watch out for the free sheet music in the Christmas issue of BBC Music Magazine. It will be available from their website for a month and from Faber Music in 2017.

Alexander and his wife Joanna Forbes L'Estrange have written four Christmas songs for Twyford School in Hampshire, that will launch there this year.  In a lighter, accessible style they are written for upper voices (mostly unison) and piano and will be available from Faber Music in time for Christmas 2017, so something to look forward to!

Also on the lighter side, don't forget that Alexander's three sets of Christmas songs available in our Choral Basics series:

  • A Christmas Special for mixed or upper voices and piano (Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas; Jingle Bells; O Christmas Tree!; Another Christmas)
  • Christmas Smash Hits! Vol. 1 for mixed or upper voices and piano (Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree; Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!; All I Want For Christmas Is You)
  • Rudolph for mixed or upper voices and piano (Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer; Santa Claus Is Coming To Town; We Wish You A Merry Christmas)
