December 2017
Welcome to the newest edition of the Cornerstones enewsletter. The BACnet International community benefits from information and education shared through Cornerstones, the organization's monthly electronic publication. This publication is disseminated to members of the BACnet community, connecting corporate, integrator, site, student and individual end users.

Cornerstones is a unique publication because it speaks not only to the engineer and contractor communities, but also to facility professionals, building managers and owners, and other personnel.

This is where you come in. We need you to connect! If there is a best practice, company news, product news or BACnet Success Story you want to share, please send them to us. And don't leave out the photos!

All submissions should be sent to Kathleen Magee, BACnet International's Marketing Manager.

BACnet International Invites YOU to Join Us

BACnet International will be exhibiting at the AHR Expo in January 2018 in Booth 3852 in the South Hall. We welcome all of our corporate members, including the 50 exhibiting member companies, as well as their clients and anyone else interested in learning about BACnet, to stop by our booth and say hello.

We will be hosting a Member Lounge in our booth to promote and build the BACnet community, BACnet protocol, BTL Certification and The BACnet Institute.

We will have plenty of seating and the lounge will be a vendor neutral place to meet. As the show approaches we will be looking for volunteers to help out in the booth. We would appreciate the help and also believe that having peers in the booth for visitors to meet and converse with is a great benefit for both parties.

If you are interested in volunteering please contact, David Nardone at david@bacninternational.org.

Educational Sessions: BACnet International will once again be hosting an educational track as part of the AHR free seminars. Topics include: Addressing IP Security Concerns, VFD + BACnet, BACnet and Total Environmental Control, BACnet: A Deeper Look, and Best Practices for Implementing BACnet.  For more information on the sessions

Exhibiting Members: please bring literature and other promotional materials to our booth so we can help promote your products.

If you, or your clients, need exhibit hall tickets, please send your names, email and mailing addresses to david@bacnetinternational.org.

We hope you were able to attend, but if not the sessions will be made available on The BACnet Institute website in the next few weeks. We will send out an announcement once these sessions are live.

We would like to say a special thank you to our contributors and speakers: Ben Dorsey, Tim Skell, Grant Wichenko, Christopher Mason, Scott Ziegenfus, for their time and support in helping us provide outstanding educational programs.

New Course - Coming Soon!

Following the positive feedback of its BACnet Basics course, as well as the resounding request for more courses, The BACnet Institute is proud to announce the coming release of its new course: The Facility Manager's Guide to Building Automation Systems (BAS).

This new course provides insight on how Facility Managers can effectively participate in and contribute to a BACnet-based BAS integration. While the course is positioned from a Facility Manager's perspective, it is still a valuable resource for the other key professionals in the BAS integration process, including Building Owners, Contractors, Project Consultants, and even IT professionals.

By taking the course, you will get a stronger understanding of the key principles of BAS design and procurement, ensuring integration achieves required results. In addition, the course discusses the importance of collaboration between Facility Management and IT with a focus on how the relationship can be leveraged effectively in order to maintain long-term success. Lastly, the course explains how a BAS design model enables streamlined facilities, thereby ensuring adaptability to future opportunities.

Like the current BACnet Basics course, this new course will be on-demand and self-paced so you can access it at anytime, anywhere. And it is free!

Keep an eye out for announcements once this course is launched.

We invite you to sign up for a free account today to access all of the site's great resources! Simply visit The BACnet Institute, and select the option 'Sign Up'.
