Dear Parents / Guardians, Students, Staff, and Friends of the Sanborn Regional High School Community. Here are your latest important announcements from Sanborn Regional High School:

Dr. Conant Wins State Math Teaching Award
Congratulations to Dr. Conant on This Great Professional Accomplishment!

Sanborn Regional High School is excited to announce that one of its teachers has been selected as the recipient of the 2017 New Hampshire High School Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics. Dr. Kevin Conant has been a math teacher at Sanborn since 2007. He is also a graduate of Sanborn. He received his award on December 7, 2017, from NH Commissioner of Education Frank Edelblut at an evening ceremony that was held at Mill Falls at the Lake in Meredith, NH.

During his professional career at Sanborn, Dr. Conant has established himself as a leader among his colleagues and in the greater school community. He teaches a variety of math courses and contributes regularly to the work of his Professional Learning Community team. He has also engaged in very innovative work at the state-level with the development of performance tasks that are used for accountability purposes in schools across the state, including Sanborn. Dr. Conant's advanced knowledge and command of the Common Core standards for mathematics have helped his team and our school immensely.

Dr. Conant is considered a favorite by many Sanborn students past and present. They note that he is fair, that he cares about them, and that he expects nothing less than their best efforts. He makes learning fun, but he holds students to high standards for themselves. Students love that he is a fixture at school events because he can often be found in the crowd at basketball games, plays, and music concerts.

This achievement is well-deserved, and we are very lucky to be able to call Dr. Conant our own. CONGRATULATIONS DR. CONANT ON THIS GREAT HONOR.

Senior Spotlight : Michaela L'Esperance
An Article by Social Studies Teacher Brian Hurley

I had the pleasure of having Michaela L'Esperance in my American History class first thing in the morning every other day last year.  While many kids were still trying to wake up at such early an hour, Michaela provided much of the energy in the room and helped get things going.  She is a very sociable and friendly student that always brightened my day.

English teacher Ms. Graham says, "Michaela is very focused and goal oriented.  She's a delight to have in class and works hard to achieve her goals, and earn the respect of her peers."  I would have to agree.  I expect her to continue her hard work and reach her goals.

Michaela would like to work in the medical field and hopes to take classes at NHTI or Great Bay.  Her time in SST and Sanborn has already given her a head start in achieving those dreams.   She is a student I will personally miss after she has graduated.  But I look forward to hearing about her future achievements in college and the workplace.

Kingston Fire Department Receives State Award For School Partnership
Thank You For All the Fire Department Does To Support our Career Pathway Program

On Wednesday, December 6, 2017, the Kingston Fire Department was honored at the NH Scholars Breakfast of Champions in Manchester as one of about a dozen "Business Leader NH Scholars Champion Awards" given state-wide. The event was attended by a couple hundred NH educators, business leaders, elected officials, and other dignitaries. NH Commissioner of Education Frank Edelblut kicked off the event and thanked award recipients for their partnerships with local schools. Former NH Governor John Lynch gave the keynote address talking about the importance of businesses and community organizations partnering with their local schools to help all students become college and career ready.

The Kingston Fire Department has been a very active part of Sanborn Regional High School's Career Pathway program since its creation a few years ago. Their involvement includes providing a number of career speaker talks for students during our advisory period, opening up their facility for industry tours, and sponsoring a number of individual students for full internship programs. Their commitment to Sanborn and the Career Pathway program has been exemplary and is one of many reasons that the program is held in high regard by many. Our goal is to make sure that all Sanborn students have the opportunity to explore and be successful in whatever career path(s) they choose to follow after high school.

Please join us in thanking the Kingston Fire Department for all they do for our students each and every day!

Packed With Love: Sweet Cases for Sweet Faces
A Community Service Initiative by Science Teacher Meghan Petruzzi

As you may know, foster children are very near and dear to me.  Often children entering foster care have their only belongings kept and moved along with them in a trash bag.  This can make foster care even harder than it is already.  I am trying to raise money to purchase sweetcases.  Sweetcases are duffel bags with a stuffed animal, hygiene kit, blanket, coloring book and various other items.  Please give what you can to make a child's transition a little easier.
