FPC Daily Advent Devotional // Wednesday, December 13
P A U S E

Peace and harmony is what God and Jesus wish for us every day. But in reality how often is that achieved? Every time we turn on the news it seems there has been a disruption of peace in our world. Peace is something we admire and want, but many times seems out of our reach. During Advent we wait and hope for the peace that Jesus will bring. I believe that many times, true moments of peace are found in our weakest moments. Bethany Hamilton is a role model for me. She said, " It was Jesus who gave me peace when the shark severed my arm. I trust in Jesus whenever I'm going through a hard time. I see all the beautiful things that have come out of my situation. I'm able to share my story with young girls who have few role models, and I can help others cope with what they have been through." This quote presents the idea that many times Jesus grants us peace in our darkest moments. Peace is like the eye of a hurricane. It is the time of quiet when we see Jesus and we see His light shine. After being given the peace of God through Jesus, we should try to embody that peace and share God's light with others. Advent is the time when we seek and wait for the peace that Jesus will bring.

P O N D E R

How can we seek the peace of God given to us through Jesus and share it with others?
How can we find peace waiting on the far side of our weakest moments?
Consider trusting the process and believing that peace is possible.
Choose between darkness and light, despair and hope, outrage and peace.

P R A Y

God of peace, help us to see your light in the dark times of our lives. Help us to trust in you and let us share your light with others. Amen.
