 Make Your Holiday
 Healthy & Bright

The holidays are a special time of year meant to celebrate friends and family. Give yourself and your family the gift of a healthy holiday season! By following a few simple steps you can come through the next few weeks feeling your best. Make this holiday season your healthiest yet!

Plan Your Time
Work to maintain your personal and time boundaries and try not to overextend your holiday commitments. Think about rescheduling appointments or commitments until after the holidays. Trying to be everything to everyone causes anxiety and stress. Creating a holiday calendar of events and activities can keep you focused on the occasions that mean the most to you this season.

Simplicity is Key
Aim to simplify the season: Wrap as you go so it doesn't become a last minute chore. You will do a better job and enjoy it more. Ease up on the to-do list, ask yourself, what will happen if I don't do this. By shrinking down the list you won't feel that added pressure during such an already busy time of year. Call don't send cards reach out and touch someone or online greeting cards are easy and eliminate lines at the post office.
Stay Home: holiday travel can be a challenge and incredibly stressful. A holiday at home allows time for evening drives to see the holiday lights or explore your city. Take the time to embrace a meaningful project like organizing your family photos. This will also give you an emotional lift when you view the photos again. Family time, cooking, playing games or reading together is a meaningful way to focus on the spirit of the holidays.

  Don't Skip Your Regular Workouts
The holidays can get so busy that an important activity such as exercise might no longer become a priority. Make exercise appointments on your calendar, and keep these appointments just as you would any other. Be realistic and consistent. For example, if you're having trouble getting motivated, commit to at least 10 minutes of exercise per day. Exercise is one of the best things you can do to improve your mood.

Unplug from Technology
We have all been there.. in the same room together but everyone is staring at a device instead of engaging with each other. Consider shutting off phones, tablets, and computers for just a day or even a few hours a day. Focus on being connected up close and in person.

Gratitude
This is the time of year that we should spend more time counting our blessings, remembering what we have instead of worrying about what we don't. Studies show that gratitude can actually improve your health by strengthening your immune system and making you more resilient in the face of crisis. Try shifting your mindset, when you maintain a positive attitude, you'll attract upbeat people and experiences.

In the Month of December
Take the time to appreciate the abundance of love, health, family and friends that you have in your life. May Peace and Joy be with you this Holiday Season.

Wishing You and Your Family a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season.

  Have a great December!
