Remembering the Granville Train Disaster
40th Anniversary Memorial
On 18 January, the Cumberland community remembered the 40th anniversary of the Granville train disaster, which claimed 83 lives.
Cumberland Administrator Viv May joined survivors, rescuers, relatives of the victims and dignatories at the anniversary's memorial service. The Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley Governor of NSW, Premier Mike Baird and NSW Opposition Leader Luke Foley were all in attendance.
Cumberland Council is proud to support the Granville Train Disaster Association and the Granville Historical Society, now and in the future, as all three organisations understand the value of remembering.
