Welcome to the 7th edition of the Seasonal Newsletter for the New England Psychodrama Community of the American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama.

This seasonal newsletter includes information about upcoming psychodrama and drama therapy offerings, a Service Spotlight highlighting the work of a New England practitioner, a Vintage Moreno video, as well as articles and announcements relevant to the field.

Jennie Kristel
Since high school,
Jennie knew that she wanted to integrate the arts and therapy in her life work. 
As an artist and therapist, she has evolved her work into an integrated model of  Expressive Arts, Energy work, Reiki and Healing .  
 
Jennie is a teacher, at Lesley University and internationally, since 2003. Jennie is a professional artist specializing in printmaking.  And, she offers Playback Theater workshops. 
 
She is also a practicing Buddhist, and a Jew raised in the shadows of the Holocaust. 
 

ONGOING OFFERINGS
OPEN PSYCHODRAMA SESSIONS
 
The Psychodrama OPEN SESSION is instructional, experiential and low key - a great way to experience the greatness of Psychodrama within a safe setting. Though therapeutic value is often felt from the experience, Open Sessions are not psychotherapy sessions and the director is not present in the role of psychotherapist. The purpose of the Open Session is for participants to experience the Psychodramatic method as an introduction. All experience levels are welcome.

True Story Theater performs and teaches a style of improvisation theater called Playback Theatre in which audience or group members tell stories from their lives and watch them enacted on the spot. LIFE WORK TRANSFORMATION INTENSIVE offered by Maria Mellano, LICSW, CP
 
This #LifeWorkTransformation intensive is a deep dive into self and professional growth focused around the 4 pillars of Money, emPowerment, Creativity and Vision.  
 
It will include: 
- 3 full days of powerful and creative work focused on money and boundaries.  
- Sacred Money Archetype Assessment and reading that will enable you and money to come into spiritual alignment   
- a one on one session prior to the intensive focused on your Sacred Money Archetype Reading and intention setting for the intensive. 
- membership in a remote monthly mentoring group designed for accountability and support in achieving your visioning outcomes from the intensive. It will meet monthly starting the week following the intensive and ending in September 2018.   
- a one on one session following the intensive to support whatever individual needs have emerged through the process

BRING THERAPY TO LIFE TRAINING DAYS offered by Maria Mellano, LICSW, CP

These #BringTherapytoLife Trainings days are designed to teach wellness professionals how to integrate experiential techniques into your sessions with clients. These trainings are a direct extension of the Open Sessions I've been doing for the past 3 years and a response to what I've been hearing as a need and a desire from the community.  They are also specifically focused on using experiential therapy with individuals or couples. 

 

They include:  

 - 3 hours from 10am to 1pm that zoom in on an essential experiential teaching point with plenty of time for practice, questions and learning in action.

- 3 hours from 2-5 for a full psychodrama directed by Maria Mellano followed by didactic processing for deeper learning.

  • Psychodrama training hours will be offered.
  • CE applications have been submitted for LMHC's and SW's.

OMEGA TRANSPERSONAL DRAMA THERAPY CERTIFICATE PROGRAM AND PROFESSIONAL PSYCHODRAMA TRAINING: WINTER PROGRAM 2018

DRAMA THERAPY AND PSYCHODRAMA FOR SPECIAL POPULATIONS
 
Date:  January 12-15, 2018

The purpose of this course is to learn the therapeutic uses of drama as applied to the differing needs of special populations. Students will learn in depth about the developmental and clinical psychological needs of a range of populations and how to adapt drama therapy techniques to their treatment. This course teaches the application of the full range of drama therapy modalities including psychodrama and transformational theater techniques to a wide variety of populations with the intention that students learn to become skilled in working therapeutically with a variety of different populations and situations professionally.
This course is taught by a faculty of many experienced drama therapist and psychodramatists who have worked with the populations about which they are teaching.
 
ADVANCED PSYCHODRAMA TRAINING INTENSIVE for people of all levels of experience.
