Clip and Earn Money for Puesta Del Sol's Kids!
Puesta del Sol's 4th Annual "Box Top Collection Contest" continues to run through February 17th .

Each classroom has a collection site to make it eas y for st ud e nts to turn in their Box Tops, ensuring each grade earns their re s pectiv e p oints toward the contest.  The grade level that turns in th e mos t B ox Tops during this time period will receive an extra re cess later in the year (weather permitting)!  Start clipping and bringing in your Box Tops!
 
Note: *Only current, not expired, Box Tops will count toward grade total

Passport Club News
February's Passport Club Check Day is Friday, February 17th from 9:30-11:30am in the library.   
 
Special Congratulations goes to one class in each grade with the highest participation of students successfully completing grade level or higher.

February's Special Itinerary (SI) 
is India ! Check out the SI bulletin boards in the cafeteria for great visual displays which contain the answers to the activities and copies of the SI.   
PTA General Membership Meeting- 2/15 @ 6 pm
There will be a PTA General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, February 15th starting at 6pm in the Puesta del Sol Library.

Come get involved and learn about current and upcoming important issues and events for this year.  Our Puesta del Sol PTA community relies on the involve ment of all of our members to support our mission of supporti ng, reinforcing, enhancing and promoting our children's Spanis
h immersion experience and overall education, health and well-being.

Dining for Dinero Fundraiser- Family Night Out
Tuesday, March 7th, 2017, 11 am-11pm at Resonate Brewery and Pizzeria.    

Bring in this flyer or mention "Puesta del Sol" to your server and Resonate will donate 25% of the total check to Puesta del Sol PTA.

Purchases include dine in, take out, and all beverages.

The Amity Committee is looking for host families for the 2017-18 school year.

The PTA Nominating Committee
A new Nominating Committee will be elected at the General Membership meeting, this Wednesday, 2/15.

This year's proposed Nominating Committee Members are: Dena Voth, GG Haight, Liz Baze, Tia Glover and Ali Goldsmith.  This team will be working together to find and slate qualified candidates into those Board positions which will be open starting in the 2017-18 school year.
International Festival is Coming!
Mark your Calendars for International Festival: April 1st from 6pm-8pm at the Newport High School Performing Arts Center

Our Science Fair and Family STEM Night will be May 10th, 2017

  null The Puesta del Sol Science Fair & Family STEM Night will be the evening of May 10 th, so it's time to start planning and collecti ng data for any projects that depend on measurement over several months.  While it  may be cold and damp outside, you can start growing plants inside so they're fully grown by May.

Congratulations Reflections Program Finalists
Great job Puesta del Sol students. We are so proud of you!

Congratulations to Kaia L., Noelle C., Colette D., Faith L. and Charlie R. for being named finalists at the District Reflections art competition! These students will advance to the state competition. Additionally, seven Puesta del Sol students were awarded Artistic Excellence ribbons, and nine received Artistic Merit ribbons. 

A list of these students can be found on the Reflections Page of our website.  

We are looking for volunteers for the Reflections program for 2017-2018 and would love to hear from you so we can tell you all about the program. Please email Melissa Cable at [email protected] .
Recent Newsletter Changes
Please Remember that the Content and Frequency of the El Sol has changed.

We have been working hard to make sure the El Sol works for you.  Therefore, at the beginning of February, we enacted changes to the El Sol Newsletter in regards to the content and frequency of our publications that will be in effect moving forward. For more details regarding this, please see our PTA Newsletter Web Page.  

The next El Sol will be published on 2/27/17. 

We are also in need of another person to take on the role of Assistant Editor for the El Sol.
Training and Support will be complete and substantial. This position affords the ability for you to volunteer on your own time from home! Please contact us at [email protected] to learn more or indicate your interest.
