FEATURE: 3 How-To's for Writing a Strong Resume

Writing Resumes_ The Basics
You can write a strong resume when you know what steps to take to get the ball rolling. Here are a few of them.
  1. Know the parts that make up a resume: your contact information, your job target, your qualifications summary, experience, and special skills. Understanding these different sections lets you begin to think about ways to record your experience.
  2. Gather your information in one place. Use this nifty Resume Worksheet to help guide you through organizing and recording your data logically. You can work on one section at a time, gaining a feeling of accomplishment as you complete each one. And you can keep this worksheet on file, too, adding to it over time as you accumulate more experience.
  3. Choose your resume format. Chronological? Functional? Combined? Take this quiz to find out which layout presents your skills and experience best.
Writing a resume is a fluid process. You can even have more than one resume to use to submit to different kinds of employers. The main step you need to take is to simply get started writing yours. Check out these additional Resume Do's and Don'ts ...
