Governor Larry Hogan proposes mandatory paid sick leave for businesses

Gov. Larry Hogan plans to introduce a bill at the start of the upcoming legislative session requiring businesses with 50 or more employees to offer more paid sick leave.

Evergreen Health suspended from individual insurance market

Evergreen Health Cooperative will not be able to participate in the individual health insurance market in January and about 9,000 people already insured with the carrier have to find new plans by Dec. 15. Click here to find out more.
Montgomery County Expands New
Paid Sick Leave Law

As of November 9,2016 Montgomery County paid sick Leave law was expanded to allow such earned leave to also be used for the birth of a child or for the placement of a child with the employee for adoption or foster care; or to care for a newborn, newly adopted, or newly placed child within one year of birth, adoption or placement.

The HCPSS School Start and Dismissal Time Committee presented four new models for school start and dismissal times in a report to the Howard County Board of Education.
