Keeping Logan's Promise
TBBCF Scientific Advisory Board Awards $300,000 to Three Breast Cancer Researchers
New London, CT (Feb. 1, 2017) - The Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation has awarded grants to three scientists working in the field of breast cancer research. Each will receive $100,000 for their two-year fellowship.

Drs. Li and Parsons are from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Dr. Meyer is from the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. This is the 11th year TBBCF has awarded grants to scientists working toward a cure for breast cancer. Since 2006, TBBCF has awarded 37 breast cancer researchers $3.7 million in research grants. These awards are intended to support PhD, MD/PhD and MD physician scientists at early stages of their research careers to enable them to develop independent careers in breast cancer research. The foundation seeks to fund broadly across all relevant disciplines and as such focus areas can include basic, preclinical and clinical research. MORE
It's a fact ...
Thank you ...
As TBBCF begins its second decade of funding research to find a cure, we pause to thank our donors, sponsors, volunteers and walkers for helping us keep
Logan's Promise since February 6, 2006.

And as we have done for the past 11 years, we begin each year by introducing you to the newly awarded grant recipients for the coming two years.

Also in this edition, Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) member, Dr. Michael Morin, talks about the past ten years and looks ahead to what we might expect in the decade to come.

Gazing into a Crystal Ball with the TBBCF Scientific Advisory Board
by Michael Morin, PhD

We are sometimes asked about the nature of the research funding applications we receive now vs. at the very beginning of the TBBCF a decade ago. In a word- EXCELLENCE. The quality of our applicants and their research proposals has always been high because of our steadfast focus on breast cancer centers of excellence here in the northeast.

We are not regional snobs - but we like to get out and meet as many of our fellows and their mentors as we can. It gives us an opportunity to remind them of our founders, our mission, and the hard work and many blisters that go into each dollar of funding. MORE
TBBCF's Scientific Advisory Board
The idea of funding breast cancer research requires technical expertise to analyze and develop funding mechanisms, a fluency in the sciences, and especially, a vision of the future: a gaze toward the novel therapies and people who might unravel the mysteries of breast cancer promoting therapies to combat the disease.

The founding Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) volunteered to lead this mission while pursuing their own demanding careers as scientists, business leaders, and scientific researchers. In the past ten years, the SAB has awarded 3.7M in research dollars to fund new efforts to eradicate breast cancer.  MORE
